What a top season was played in Sint-Joris-Weert by Rudy Denies, in every area he was among the Ace pigeons and in total masses of prizes in the 10 first local and a super high prize percentage per 10. The colony here consists of Patrick Draye and Rudy who have teamed up together. Patrick has been bitten by the pigeon sport from an early age and is now trying to rebuild a colony here on his parental lofts from the past. If we go over the 2022 season, we will soon end up with several toppers. We start with “Rolex”, the head of this colony that became 1st National Ace pigeon middle distance yearlings KBDB with the lowest coefficient ever in the middle distance and on top of that this clapper became 1st Ace pigeon World best Pigeon middle distance. Of course this one doesn't get it from a stranger because he is a grandson of "Festina". This hen was the start of the ace pigeon chain that you can find here, she was classified 2nd out of ten first in the national area in the middle distance. Besides “Rolex” there is also the “Super Roske” with which they went to the long distance with 1 pigeon, she became 1st Ace pigeon long distance LCB and 2nd Prov Ace pigeon long distance old KBDB. Another top hen is the “Gueretje” who became 1st Prov Ace pigeon longer middle distance yearlings KBDB and “Skyliner” became 2nd Prov Ace pigeon middle distance old birds KBDB. These are 4 real toppers where we should not forget "Carine" as the last extra, this hen won 1st Semi National La Chatre in 2021 against more than 8,000 pigeons.
The loft is top notch, the pigeons are super and they work hard to get the maximum return from a small colony. The start came in 2017 when she won half a round from Guido Van Caneghem, this group has produced 2 super breeders. The current breeding loft now consists of 16 breeders, of which 75% has Erik Limbourg stock, supplemented with pigeons from Geert De Clercq , Jan Mees, Hazaert Gerry, Vermeerbergen – Wilms and Deneys Dimitri. The latest acquisitions come from Willem De Bruijn. But Patrick's conclusion is, it starts with good pigeons…

Everything on classic widowhood and then a strict selection
The racing team here consists of 16 widowers (4 old birds, of which 2 for the middle distance and 2 for the long distance and 12 yearlings) and 20 hens (6 old birds, of which 1 for the long distance and 5 for the heavy middle distance and in addition 14 yearlings). So in total there are 36 racing pigeons of which 10 old ones can get their ticket to remain as old ones and some of the very best old ones get their place in the breeding loft.
The widowers were coupled around February 10 and are allowed to stay together for 3 weeks, most of them then brood for 8 to 10 days and then release again. At the end of March / beginning of April when the weather is nice, they come together again for 5 days and then drive full throttle so that they are ready for their first flight. The hen is then still ready when she returns home and so the widowhood can start. The widowers who show their best in the middle distance in May can take their chances for a new ace pigeon title in the middle distance, while the others all go for the national races.
The hens do not do winter breeding either and are darkened from mid-February to the end of March. They are then coupled immediately afterwards, they may breed rotten after the first Momignies, they still come home on eggs and I usually clean everything up the next day. The intention is that the hens will be ready for Bourges at the end of May, while the cocks will be added to Chateauroux a week later. How it will be this year with a national race every 14 days, we will see how the preparation is going.
The daily training here is not hard, i.v.m. other lofts do not fully train our pigeons. The cocks fly for half an hour and then go up and down. The hens are still doing reasonably well before the season with half an hour to fly, but in the season itself this is 10 minutes and done. In the spring we let them out once a day and in the season it is sometimes twice a day to let them fly a bit. But whether it is all necessary, the hive provides advice and displays the result.
When basketing they usually get to see their partners, the hens always see their cocks in the breeding loft while they spend a whole week in the resting loft. The period here is always that the hens get their cocks while we prepare the widowers. These alternately receive the saucer and / or the hen. Afterwards we go back to the hens and we quietly take them off (locked up in the box). When they return home, the widowers only get to see their hen for half an hour in April, in May and June this gets longer and longer (up to 3 to 4 hours max). The hens fly on the nest in April so that they come home calmly, but then follow a different regime, they always stay together until Sunday morning from the first race in widowhood until the end of the season. The hen for the long distance was prepared separately on Wednesday evening while the other hens stayed in the resting loft, she got her cock in the box for one hour and always went with it.
The youngsters are not their favorite domain, but they also did far from badly in 2022. Everything is darkened here from the beginning of April to June 21. Because space is limited, the 2 rounds remain separate until the 2nd group has flown Soissons. Only then can we play them on the sliding door until the end of the season. This year the youngsters raced at least 2 x middle distance and on the last national race from Chateauroux, where we had a good result, most of the hens participated.

Every special pigeon has a special story. “Rolex” was not a good student in the beginning, during the first training flights he always came home last and he continued this line until the first real flights. It wasn't until the end of April that he had his sights set in the right direction and he won 1st from Momignies against 288 pigeons. Afterwards he left and flew straight to the national ace pigeon title. Sometimes you have to be patient and because he was such a beautiful cock he got his chance.

Accompaniment
All Pigeons get the Beyers mixtures here, where especially Vandenabeele and the Premium mixtures are given the most. The racing pigeons always get food together and on Saturday to Monday this is Vandenabeele, on Tuesday 50% Vandenabeele and 50% Premium Sport and from Wednesday full Premium Sport until basketing.
What we give as extra products during the week are Recupfly and Hepasan from Probelfly. Zell Oxygen and Optimix from Herbots. From the Herbovet range it is mainly Herbosol, Herbochol, MMK, Herbial and Elite pigeon.
In the field of tricho we give a tricho pill every 3 weeks on Sunday morning. On the day of basketing they always get a yellow drop in their mouth and throughout the season they are treated 2 or 3 times against the respiratory tract. Especially with the tough season that was 2022, you can't play at a top level all year without doing anything.
The vaccinations in the old pigeons are paratyphus in February and paramyxo in March. The youngsters first get Paramyxo Rota, 3 weeks later Paramyxo Herpes and 3 weeks later pox with the brush.
