Phenomenal double victory in lightning-fast race 

On 24 May, a tough sprint race from Luyksgestel was scheduled for the Friesland'96 Division. The expectations were clear: high speeds. Not exactly the favourite weather conditions of the Homma brothers from Steggerda, but their pigeons showed their best side.

While following the first reports, it quickly became apparent that the early pigeons could finish high. And at that very moment, two dots appeared above the loft of Ydo and Elco: their first two pigeons.

The first to land on the trap was ‘Mara’ (NL22-8102701). She was already ranked 1st Ace Pigeon Sprint in the province before this weekend, and confirmed her top form with another victory. Barely a second later, ‘Marion’ followed, also in top form in recent weeks. Both hens were 1st and 2nd nominated on the list, and flew their roles with flying colours.

The flight was released at 7:05 a.m., and ‘Mara’ was clocked at 8:38:17 with an impressive speed of 1,978.674 m/min, good for 1st Provincial against 9,798 pigeons. Shortly afterwards, ‘Marion’ followed in 2nd place.

Pedigree full of class

‘Mara’ comes from a pairing of big names. Her father is ‘Golden Haas’, a son of ‘Haasje’ from Marco Zandvoort, a fixture in the breeding loft. Her mother is a daughter of ‘Rogerke Bolt’, owned by Hans & Evert-Jan Eijerkamp, who has won no fewer than seven first prizes, paired with ‘Gerda’, granddaughter of the famous ‘Euro’ and already a 12th Nat. Ace Pigeon in the middle distance as a youngster.

‘Marion’ is a direct hen from Marco Zandvoort and confirms the quality of his loft in Friesland as well.

With this result, the brothers continue their strong season. Training twice a day is starting to pay off. They can rightly say: 1st and 2nd in the entire division, a unique double in a field of almost 10,000 pigeons!

31 May: Top performance at Hirson: 1st to 5th and 7th against 1422 pigeons! 

This Saturday, another race from Hirson was on the programme. For weeks, the performances have been running like clockwork, and on Saturday, the pigeons at the Homma brothers' loft once again lived up to expectations. With a series starting at places 1 to 5 and then straight through to 7th place, they can rightly claim a top result!

The first five in a row:

1st – NL23-903

From ‘Hardrock Z’ (C. & G. Koopman) x daughter Olympic Lisa from Gerard van den Berg. A cross with spirit and class – the result speaks for itself.

2nd – ‘Noor’

Daughter of ‘Golden Haas’ (Marco Zandvoort) and a daughter of ‘Rogerke Bolt’ (Hans & Evert-Jan Eijerkamp). This line remains exceptionally reliable.

3rd – ‘Marion’

Comes directly from Marco Zandvoort. She confirms once again that his pigeons perform excellently here.

4th – NL24-914

Descendant of top hen ‘Jade’ (2x 1st Province) paired with a son of the stock pair ‘Dakar’ x daughter ‘Ace Noyon’. A pedigree that is rock solid.

5th – NL24-374

Daughter of ‘Olympic Max’ (J. & Sibble Broos). Previously won 1st against 781 pigeons and is once again competing at the front of the pack today.

The results at a glance:

Flying area 5: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 15, etc. against 1,422 pigeons (53 basketed – 38 in the prizes)

Combined race E: 4, 6, 10, 11, 16, etc. against 2,138 pigeons (53 entered – 36 prize pigeons)

With a strong start and a nice spread across the top of the results, the Homma brothers can only look back on this race with satisfaction. They are clearly in good form, so on to the next one!
