Herbots | Gommaire Verbruggen (Scherpenheuvel) and his great breeding line around “Superstar 645”

In recent years, we couldn't ignore it: Gommaire Verbruggen was among the best pigeon families in our country. Or is that a lie? Yes, we take back our words. Since he started racing pigeons, Gommaire has been an indispensable part of the best lofts in our country. Several legendary pigeons have seen the world here: "Kletskop" - "Teen" - "Massis" - "020" - "Kadet" - "Kim" - "Annie" - ... There's actually quite a lot to mention, especially if we also include the long-distance and extreme long-distance pigeons. Gommaire also has a history here; he won the 1st National Ace Pigeon Long Distance KBDB in 2007 and also had some top performers in Barcelona during that period. Let's now move on to the current generation and "Superstar 645." This is the super breeder who has had a huge impact on his colony in recent decades. We are delighted to introduce him below, along with his successor and the current national ace pigeons, along with his fantastic racing team of yearlings and old birds that performed exceptionally well in 2025.

We also have the honor of auctioning some of Gommaire Verbruggen's young pigeons online for the first time. He has chosen to join forces with the Herbots family and auction off some exclusive young pigeons here. If you look at all the results further down in this article, you'll know that these are simply gold pigeons that are performing fantastically both here and elsewhere.

White Raven "Superstar 645" BE 16-3136645

Perhaps Gommaire has an instinct for it, but several super breeders have provided several generations of top pigeons in national races here in Scherpenheuvel.

The last one in this list is perhaps the best he's ever owned. "Superstar 645" is a direct Anthony Maes pigeon, and sometimes pictures say more than words. In total, the direct descendants have flown in the top 100 nationally 24 times, and the grandchildren will surpass that number even more, currently totaling around 70. If you look at the current top pigeons, you'll certainly find several grandchildren who are doing fantastically, as well as great-grandchildren who have won national top prizes. This is a breeding line that continues to spread its strong genes.

For the last two years (2024-2025), Gommaire has been putting forward his successor. This is BE 22-2066040 Jaguar 040.

This is a special joint breeding between "Superstar 645" by Anthony Maes, Best Breeder at the Verbruggen household, and "Perfect Sero Sero," a daughter of "Sero Sero," 1st Nat. Argenton 9,255 p., and "Papillon," 1st Prov. Tours 5,697 p., bred by Anthony Maes. "Superstar 645" is also a son of "Sero Sero," so half-brother and half-sister were paired. Holding this pigeon is fantastic; it's a bundle of feathers, soft muscles, a beautifully balanced pigeon, and a fantastic eye.

This BE 22-2066040 Jaguar 040 is now the sire of two super yearlings, "Jag 002" and "Jag 004," both of whom already boast impressive palmares and are certainly among the favorites for 2026. The strategy is set, and Gommaire will continue to build on both "Jaguar 040" and his two national ace pigeons, "Lotte" and "Noor," in combination with crossbreeding with other top pigeons and with his own line.
