Hendriks Jo & Florian – Nijswiller 1st, 3rd and 5th Chateauroux 1,274b. (Department 4)

29 Jul 2021

The last few weeks we could all witness the flooding that also hit the Dutch province Limburg. Also at the Hendriks house they had a lot of water damage. Under the pigeon loft and in their house the water was where it shouldn’t have to be. A lot of commotion in and around the pigeon loft and despite this ‘misery’ Jo and Florian decided to basket anyway for the long distance race out of La Souterraine. The young widowers team already did Issoudun (where they started with the 7th prize against 34,214b) and now the plan was to give them a 2nd long distance race out of La Souterraine. So said…so done and due to the hectic around the house and pigeon loft they decided just to take the cocks out of the loft to basket. But the story doesn’t stop here. On Saturday the race was postponed due to the bade weather and as the predictions for Sunday weren’t good either they decided to move the pack to Chateauroux and were released their on Sunday at 9h15. Racing into the wind the winning cock could be clocked by our sympathetic fanciers at 18h02 (distance of 538km). Good for an average speed of 1,021 m/m and no other Limburg pigeon did better.

“Kleine Gerard”

The golden breeding line from “Kleine Gerard” strikes again as the Chateauroux winner (NL20-1731599) is a full brother to Kleine Gerard”. “Kleine Gerard” won ao. 2nd NPO Bourges 8,287b., 4th NPO Montluçon 1,310b. – 5th NPO Lorris 5,537b., 11th NPO Limoges 1,320b. and so on…

The yearling that wins the 3rd prize is NL20-1731505…a direct son to  “Kleine Gerard”

Casually mentioned: the strain of “Kleine Gerard” has unknown breeding capacities. This is how Jan Deliege won 1st NPO Montluçon with a son to “Brother Kleine Gerard”, while the 3rd NPO Montluçon from Jan, was bred out of a half-brother to “Kleine Gerard”. Last year the 1st NPO Sezanne was also bred by the Hendriks family out of a son to “Son Kleine Gerard” and came the 2nd NPO Sezanne out of a daughter to “Kleine Gerard”.
