Jackie – Leen De Bruine from Niewerkerk ( NL ) win with the 2nd National Barcelona 2019 almost an unique double

It wasn’t far off whether tandem Jackie & Leen De Bruine out of the Dutch village Nieuwerkerk went into the history books as the 1st tandem that would win two years in a row the 1st National Barcelona in Holland. Father Leen and son Jackie share everything in a matter of pigeons and enjoy together their colony. 

Back to 2018 where the unique story started, around 13h02 they clocked NL 15-3537577 “El Cid” who became after a two hour wait the 1st National Barcelona. This over a distance of 1151km and in very though circumstances. On an international level he became the 4th against 15,700 pigeons. “El Cid” was a pigeon bred by Walter van der Meulen where they work closely together with, which will become more clear in the article of Walter tomorrow. 

One year later we go to the edition of Barcelona 2019. An even tougher one as the former year and now they clocked at 14h50. At that moment it was the 2nd National which would stay like that, on an international level ‘Mr.Fit Barcelona’ ends at the 8th place against 15,981 pigeons. An unique double when you have 2 shining years after each other. 

Off course it didn’t stay to this 2nd national in 2019, they also clocked the 25th , 154th , 202nd , 233rd , 249th , 287th National and with 11 prizes on 20 an excellent result.

Breeding loft

The breeding loft exist out of 15 breeding couples that can do their thing at ease in their boxes. 

The base of their pigeons come via Walter Van der Meulen where especially base breeder “823” NL 05-0503823 has a big part and has his genes in the last two Barcelona top pigeons. 

The other strains on the breeding loft are from Hans Lindenberg ( grandmother Mr.Fit ) , Piet de Vogel and a hen from Wim Kooreman who also already gave a 26th National Barcelona. 

Was Mr.Fit a pigeon out of the widowers team or out of the nest team ? 

Mr.Fit was raced on widowhood and had his weekly race, but also good ones can miss out once. About 4 weeks before Barcelona there was a wind race and he came home a day later. He was totally empty and you could tell he went very far, then it is a matter of a lot of rest and give a lot of food and hope for a quick recovery. Luckily this is what happened so you hope for a super result the next time. Or as they say, a good one doesn’t miss twice !!!! 

On the day of basketing for Barcelona the widow cocks got together with their hen tobacco stems and could do their thing. The pigeons that have to do Barcelona don’t do normally any other flight that year anymore at heavy weather circumstance.

When you hold Mr.Fit is he one of the most beautiful Barcelona pigeons, he got all the qualities and Jackie hopes to have found a new base breeder with him that can set national top results under very hard weather circumstances.

Crossing “Mr.Fit Barcelona” x “El Cid” 

We asked Jackie in Spring 2020 to make special couplings for an internet auction. We only want to auction the best of the best and Jackie bred a few very special youngsters right out of the heart of the colony. 

The first 2 pigeons are nest mates, NL 20-2034365 “Mr.Cid” and NL 20-2034366 “Miss Cid” are 2 direct children out of “Mr.Fit Barcelona” coupled to a daughter “El Cid”. In other words, the 2nd National Barcelona coupled to a daughter of the 1st National Barcelona. 

We can’t bring much better Barcelona blood in an auction…. 

Another top pigeon is a ½ brother to “Mr.Fit Barcelona”. NL 20-2034369 “Golden Mr.Cid”

He is a son to the same mother of “Mr.Fit Barcelona” and was coupled to a son of  “El Cid”. 

Inbred “El Cid” - NL 20-2032501 "Double Cid 501"

For those looking for real crossing material is inbred “El Cid” really recommendable. “Son El Cid” was coupled to “Sister El Cid”.
