Marc Bollen shines two weeks in a row with regional victory in Central-Limburg

23 May 2025

Marc Bollen from Hasselt is currently enjoying a golden period in his pigeon racing career. During the first two weekends of May 2025, Marc and his standout pigeon "Blue Diamond" achieved no less than two consecutive regional victories in Central Limburg, firmly establishing themselves among the absolute top in the region.

In the first race from Sourdun on May 3rd, Blue Diamond triumphed over 1,681 pigeons. Just a week later, on May 10th, the story repeated itself in the race from Gien, where Blue Diamond once again dominated the competition, now beating 2,446 pigeons. These back-to-back victories are a testament to both the quality of the pigeon and the consistent management of Marc's loft.

"Blue Diamond" comes from a carefully selected lineage. On the father's side, the pedigree traces back to Sabrina Brugmans, a name synonymous with top performances. This line also produced the remarkable "Zita", which previously won 1st and 2nd regional in Central Limburg, out of the same father as Blue Diamond's coupled to a hen from Ludo and Jeroen Panis, two well-known names in the pigeon racing scene.

On the mother's side, Blue Diamond is bred from a pigeon obtained from Marc's good friend Frank Neven from Ulbeek, whose birds have already proven their worth, including producing a 1st place semi-national winner on Nevers.

Marc applies the classic widowhood system for the cocks, ensuring that both the mental and physical condition of the birds are perfectly tuned. The hens are equally given attention, being raced on widowhood with their fixed partners, creating a stable and motivated environment in the loft.

The feeding program is based on the Beyers Galaxy system, providing the pigeons with top-quality nutrition tailored to every phase of their racing and breeding season. The medical care is entrusted to Raf and Kobe Herbots, who guide Marc using the Herbovet system and products, ensuring optimal health and condition.

According to Marc, there is no shortcut to success in this sport. The only way forward is through continuous searching for a strong breeding base, extremely strict selection, keeping the pigeons in top health, and providing the right motivation to these feathered athletes. Only then can one truly enjoy the wonderful sport of pigeon racing to its fullest.

Marc, our sincere congratulations on behalf of the entire Herbots team!
