Marc & Franky Van de Walle (Zwalm) win 2nd National Valence 2,642 old pigeons

Last Monday the pigeons from Valence were only released due to the bad weather that once again threw a spanner in the works. The first pigeons just reached the limit of 1,000 m/min and there will not often be such a distance between the 1st and 2nd national as this was now the case. The winner was just at the border with Luxembourg while we will find the silver at the top colony of Marc & Franky Van de Walle from Zwalm in East Flanders. Their 2-year old cock had a great lead of 44m/min in their province, which is why we call it an exceptional performance. This pigeon also has a great lead over its closest competitor in the national zone.

He certainly gets it from no strangers, his grandfather on his father's side is “Blue Rhone” who himself shone in the Rhone races, on his mother's side we find the founder of this colony as his grandfather, namely “Den Bordeaux” who himself won 1st National Bordeaux against 4,921 pigeons. The 1st long distance flight of the season from Limoges also started with the 12th National Limoges against 12,269 pigeons with a grandson of “Bordeaux”. 

Widowers

Their racing team consists mainly of widowers who are raced in classic widowhood. Just before the season started, they were paired and allowed to breed. During the winter period, training at home is no longer possible due to problems with birds of prey. In the spring training is then systematically built up and the racing pigeons train once a day.  They flew their first Noyon to breed and during the 2nd flight from Noyon they were in widowhood. In the beginning, when all the pigeons are still going to the same flights, the dishes are shown to all the cocks, now when pigeons are basketed for several days, it is preferable that all the other pigeons are not disturbed and they are picked up from the loft. When we return home, we look at whether it is possible to give as many pigeons as possible a hen at the same time. The pigeons from Valence were not shown anything when they returned home, but they will be shown this when the other pigeons have been removed from the loft for the next flight.
