03 Aug 2024

Ingooigem - Last weekend was a special event at the Messiaen - De Bruyne home. Their exceptional performance during the international flight from Narbonne earned them the provincial victory for the province of West Flanders. The Messiaen - De Bruyne pigeon was the fastest of 1,014 old birds and achieved an impressive 4th place at national level against 4,983 old birds.

De Narbonne

The winning red cock named "De Narbonne", with ring number BE18-3082821, landed on the board at Ingooigem around 08h17 with an average speed of 918.41 metres per minute. This was enough to win the provincial title, a feat that did not go unnoticed in the pigeon racing community. In addition, "De Narbonne" won the 4th national prize and was also the 11th fastest of all 10,536 Belgian pigeons.

Pure Widowhood

At Messiaen - De Bruyne, the pure widowhood system is used. At the beginning of the season, the hens are not shown to the widowers, but at the end of the season they are, which appears to result in excellent results.

Breeds For The Heavy Long Distance

The pigeon colony of the Messiaen- De Bruyne loft is composed of pigeons from Germain D'hondt, among others, who unfortunately quit, but from whom Messiaen - De Bruyne still have class pigeons. They also use races such as Batenburg- Van de Merwe via Germain D'hondt, Mylle from Zonnebeke, Herman Decrits, Ivan Verhaeghe, Danny Defoort (now caretaker of team Huyzentruyt), Jan Martin, Pierre Dewaele - Toye and Renaat Van den Heede.
