A loft to keep an eye on on all fronts now that Jelle is also starting to master its systems. But everything starts again from scratch and we will go back to it in 2023. The 2022 season was good with the old birds and yearlings, but he still wanted to start measuring himself against the very best in the long distance. Old and yearlings

The yearlings flew Tulle where they were basketted for 5 days and were not there, so they flew Gueret 14 days later and then Souillac 14 days later. On that particular Souillac I clocked them almost together and they both flew top 20 National. Then the yearlings Souillac, Tulle and Libourne flew in a row.The widowers don't get to see them when they are basketed, just like when they come home, I only give them their hen a day later for a maximum of 4 to 6 hours. In this way the pigeons enjoy their partners in full recovery rather than lying there tired in the dish.
The racing hens will be a game of double widowhood from 2023, since there were more young cocks that Jelle wants to race. They will not breed in the winter period and will only see each other at the first flight and thus gradually form couples. The intention here will be that they will see each other in the national races on the morning of basketing for 2 to 3 hours and then separate again. Just like the widowers, they will be left together for a period the day after they return home. The hens are in aviaries that are completely screened off and sit on rollers on the floor. They are darkened from the beginning of March to the end of April from 7 pm to 8 am. They train once a day and by Wednesday in the season they will complete the hour again.

How do you race your youngsters?
The youngsters are the permanent hobbyhorse of the Roziers household, national top prizes and ace pigeons are his complete dada. The youngsters have spacious lofts with plenty of oxygen and space without drafts.All youngsters are darkened from 5.30 pm to 7.30 am, this rhythm is maintained until 4 weeks before Bourges. The additional lighting does not start immediately because the longest days are held for a while and that is why Jelle only starts this after Bourges. Then there is lighting from 6 am and in the evening they burn until 10 pm.
The 1st and 2nd group are in separate lofts until they start flying well, then the rounds come together and the sexes are separated because we don't really play on the “sliding door” system. There are no boxes in the racing lofts, only planks, there is no room for pairs other than the U-plank on the floor. This U-shaped shelf has 40-50 cm of space underneath where the dust can fly away through grilles. Each loft had a corridor and in front of it a large aviary.
On the day of basketing they do not see each other and after returning home it is only very short, as long as the competition lasts they are together and then the fun is over. So the pigeons are basketed calmly and also played without extra motivation, they have a strong basic condition on which they have to do it. Perhaps this is the art of motivating them as a yearling with a hen?
Learn, learn and learn some more. The pigeons are taken away 25 times before they fly Quievrain. Confidence and orientation is what counts for me, find the straight way home blindly and then take it off to war.
Between the flights, the training is limited to 1 or 2 times where I used to drive a lot more. Between the 2 national races I usually race at the furthest possible distance to keep the pigeons moving. The youngsters train 1x a day until July, after that the rhythm goes up and this becomes 2x a day. The youngsters flew their first Quievrain in mid-June and he usually repeats that on Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday so that they are ready for Noyon.
Nutrition and medical
The widowers train in the morning and get minerals, sweets and nuts in the evening and get their meal in the evening, while it is slightly different for the hens. The mixture used in the spring is Aidi Rust. He is in close contact with Eddy Noël and only uses the Aidi mixtures and the entire schedule as proposed. Especially racing mix 1-2-3 and long distance mixture for the long distance are the main mixtures in the season, while rest, moulting and breeding are the mixtures after the season. As extra products it is especially on Wednesday and day of return Condition Booster and a lot of Health Elixir. When they return home, they also receive Protein Boost over the feed together with Omega Plus Oil.
In terms of vaccinations, adjustments have been made, the youngsters will still be vaccinated at the age of 6 weeks against paramyxo - circo - rota and the paramyxo vaccination will be repeated afterwards by An Havet, who also does the smallpox at the same time. Paramxyo and smallpox is done at the same time for all racing pigeons in the spring.
I only use soludox against the airways and this happened 1x in 2022 with the old pigeons and not with the young pigeons. In the field of tricho I prefer to work with the yellow drops than with a tricho pill or cure. That is why the old pigeons get 2x a yellow drop in the nose 2 days in a row in the spring and the young pigeons 4 feedings in a row just before their first competition. During the season itself, the old pigeons get a yellow drop in the nose every week and the young pigeons 1 feed up to the sprint, then 2 feeds from the middle distance in succession.
For disinfection or the like I prefer to use Koudijs, I do this 2x during the season with both old and young.
