Sabrina Brugmans from Halen ends her grand cru year with a 3rd victory in the "Golden Pigeon" competition

Halen, Limburg—I've lost count of how many times I've driven to this top colony. Their provincial victories are a long list, and the championships they won again in 2025 were once again at the very best level in our pigeon sport.

Thanks to this super season, Sabrina Brugmans and Stephan Machiels's colony won the "Gouden Duif" competition for the third time in their careers and, with their first three nominated, were once again the best colony over 12 races in our Herbots Championship. In addition, the wonder hen "Celine" was born, and other top pigeons performed simply superbly in all areas.

Wonder hen "Celine" has a special story. She won 2nd National Vierzon in 2024 against 5,780 pigeons and is simply being basketed to continue performing at her level in 2025. She won another 2nd National from Bourges against 8,132 pigeons and also achieved her second provincial victory. Many of us would put such a hen in the breeding loft because so many top pigeons are already lost. Stephan didn't want to do that with "Celine" and wanted to give it one last try. At Bourges, she went out through the main gate and secured her national victory against 5,261 old birds. A truly impressive result, and there won't be many hens like these in Belgium.

Their colony's system has been explained several times, and we won't repeat it here. Let's move on to the performances and the best pigeons of recent years.

This "Conner" bred no fewer than three different top pigeons in just two years, and is already the grandfather of a 1st Provincial Sourdun against 2,761 young pigeons. A top-class pigeon that wasn't sold; like almost all the top pigeons here, they simply remain in the breeding loft to further raise their level. His first son is "The Favorite," who almost succeeded his father and became 2nd National Ace Pigeon All-Round Young Birds KBDB 2024. In 2024, he also became the father of "Nadine," who achieved impressive results not in 2024, but in 2025, making her 16th National Ace Pigeon Middle Distance Yearlings KBDB in 2025. In 2025, a son of his won 3rd National Bourges against 21,502 young pigeons and 7th Provincial Sens against 2,358 pigeons. Yes, with "Conner," they're looking forward to the future here in Halen.
