Vanhoudt – Serre (Diest) win 1st Provincial Tulle 450 old birds

Last year, the national race among the yearlings was won by the father and son combination Vanhoudt – Serre from Diest, Flemish Brabant. This year they wanted to participate in this flight again in the hope of achieving a good result. Last year they had 4 pigeons in the basket that together flew 3 x TOP 125 nationally, now there were 2 old birds and 4 yearlings of which 3 flew in the top 40 nationally, including 1st, 2nd and 4th Provincial. Another super result thanks to their method of bringing the pigeons to the nest at the end of the season.

The hens always breed in the spring, some even raise 2 rounds of youngsters, but that is a bit too much and we will not do it anymore. Afterwards, the hens train once a day in the morning and are always taken away by son Bart on Wednesdays up to 35-40km. When basketing, they are only shown the saucer and are allowed from the resting loft to the breeding loft for a few minutes and are then taken away. When they return home, they can always stay together until the evening at speed and from the middle distance we even leave them together until the next day in the morning. 

The hens always fly in widowhood until we see that the results are decreasing somewhat. We then pair them according to their last national flights of the season, now at Tulle they were breeding for 10 days, which is ideal for a hen. The daily training is then done together with the young hens so that they still remain in good condition. 

The food used here is all Aidi, we use Vliegmix 1-2-3 according to their schedule together with Girl Power as well as the by-products that their schedule prescribes. In the medical field, we go for a check-up with Karlo Van Rompaey before the racing season and just before the national flights. Nothing was found twice, so we only kept the tricho under control by mixing it with the food once a week and that's it.
