1st National Souillac 4,234 yearbirds - fastest of 8,811b.
Distance: 681km
Velocity: 1,137.21 m/m
A total of 8,811 pigeons were entered for the national long-distance race from Souillac, and the fastest of this entire pack could be admired at the loft of the Vandenheede Brothers from Kruisem (Zingem).
While many of us dream of someday winning a national race, Freddy & Jacques are already flirting with their 28th national victory (since 1999). For us reporters, the road to Ten Edestraat in Kruisem/Zingem has become an “annual trip.”
Lord Souillac
In 2024, Jacques & Freddy won the national race from Souillac, and just one year later, their name once again tops the national Souillac results.
“Lord Souillac” (B24-4141105) not only enjoyed being the fastest in his category (yearlings), but also left all other competitors behind. With an average speed of 1,137.21 m/min, no other pigeon could match his performance.
“Lord Souillac” was raced, like all other racing pigeons from their loft, on pure widowhood (with the partner staying at home).
The future of “Lord Souillac” will no longer be in racing, but in breeding. There, just like the other top pigeons from Vandenheede, he can start a new career.
Last year, the Vandenheede brothers had a phenomenal season with 2x 1st National Ace Pigeon KBDB and 2x 1st National wins — a full feature about this appeared on April 26, 2025.
