A resounding victory in this first AWC race of the season with 1-13-19,… against 4,278 old birds and yearlings. The Ohpain loft remains at the top following a breathtaking start to the season. In this race, it was the colony’s ‘Ladies’ who rose to the occasion, raced in widowhood according to the jealousy principle, namely two females to a single male who remains at home. The group is divided into two parts: the first group was mated in February and was allowed to brood for one week, whilst the other group was simply mated for one week with the same males before being switched to widowhood. On the day of mating, the male is presented to the females in turn in the presence of the other female; that is to say, when the male is in the cage with one of the two females, the other is locked in the half-cage next to it, which serves as an incentive. On their return, the hens are then given the cock in turn for two hours as a reward. The hens are systematically put into the mating pen every week from the start to the end of the season, alternating between sprint and middle-distance races. We wish the MARSILLE team every success for the rest of the season.
