Bosmans-Leekens: National victories thanks to the power of the "National Pair"

In 2023, Marc Bosmans and Dirk Leekens sold almost all their pigeons to the Far East, so it's safe to say they've made a recent fresh start. However, this hasn't prevented them from racing hard again.The 2025 season was one to remember. They won 111 first prizes (including doubles) in 46 different races, and the icing on the cake was a 1st national Bourges.
"The Lucky One": 1st national Bourges
Sometimes a person or animal needs a bit of luck, and judging by the name of the winning hen, we already suspected there was a story behind these achievements. "Not immediately after the victory itself," says Dirk, "the winner 'The Lucky One' won 13th Chimay 1,527 p., 29th Soissons 2,199 p., and 48th nat. Argenton 13,988 p. The week after Argenton, she returned from an intermediate flight with a severe chest injury. We suspect she was "knocked" to the ground during the release by the mass of pigeons that simultaneously left the truck. It was a serious injury, as she stayed home for a full six weeks. Her first race after recovering was the Interprov. Sancoins, where she won 37th against 2,956 p., before shining in Bourges.
Her sire is a son of 'Lucky Luke,' the progenitor of the Bosmans-Leekens loft, crossed with the unique 'Athena' line of Rik Hermans.
Her dam is 'Ito' (4th Olympiad pigeon yearlings Oradea '22), seasoned with the “Harry” line by Jan Hooymans.
With Bourges - since the start of this combination - the 5th national victory was achieved. The roll of honour now looks as follows:

1st National Argenton 7,843 p. with “Chalon”
1st National Gueret 12,888 p. with “Triple Bas”
