Bouckaert-Crul (Ardooie) wins 1st Provincial Argenton West Flanders for young birds

Ardooie - The Bouckaert-Crul pigeon loft in Ardooie has won the provincial victory at the Argenton national flight in the young pigeon category for the province of West Flanders. Their pigeon, "Margot" with ring number BE24-3005330, was the fastest of the 3,534 young pigeons in the province. It was also the fastest of all the 3,868 young, yearlings and old pigeons in the province of West Flanders. At the national level, "Margot" obtained a fine 8th place out of 14,745 young pigeons and a 9th place out of all 18,120 pigeons.

Joy's winning approach

Joy Crul, who operates under the name of his partner and himself (Bouckaert-Crul), speaks enthusiastically about recent successes. "I've been involved in pigeon racing for ten years now," explains Joy. "This year, I started at a new site in Ardooie, but I've kept my breeders. I bred 80 youngsters this year."

Joy's method is careful and considered. "My pigeons are trained and stay together on speed and middle distance. Two weeks before Bourges, we race them on a sliding door. The youngsters fly on the sliding door and are darkened from March to mid-June. Then I light them up", he explains. He also stresses the importance of feed and by-products: "My feed comes from Versele Laga, as do by-products such as oils.

The results of this approach speak for themselves. "Three weeks in a row, we won first place locally on the national flights to Bourges, Vierzon and Argenton," says Joy proudly. "In Argenton, we even had three pigeons in the top 100 nationally."

Consistent results

The Bouckaert-Crul team plays against renowned names at local level, but has nevertheless put in a fine performance with 3 consecutive weeks of first place in their local on national flights. Here's an overview of the results:

With these results, the Bouckaert-Crul pigeon loft demonstrates that its approach is crowned with success. The performance of "Margot" is a great recognition for the Ardooie pigeon loft and shows that it is a formidable opponent in West Flanders and at national level, especially if we consider the results of Bourges, Vierzon and Argenton 3 weeks in a row.
