Christiaens – De Smedt (Pamel) wins gold and silver in the national zone from Pau.

The long-distance season has begun, and a fixture on this race is the top colony of Christiaens – De Smedt in Pamel, Flemish Brabant. Dirk focuses on the long-distance due to time constraints regarding the time he has to spend with the pigeons; for him, the long-distance was the easiest and least time-consuming way to enjoy the sport. As always, he uses the nest system, basketing the pigeons after 10 to 14 days of brooding, so the pair participates together in a single race.

As is the annual custom, Pau marks the start of the long-distance season, and this colony immediately wins gold and silver at the provincial level, and they also take the first two places in the national zone. Only one pigeon was clocked in the province in the evening, and that was the blue hen “240/24,” which he transferred from good friend Luc Wiels to this loft because Dirk was short of hens to make the nest system work effectively. In total, 7 hens from Luc thus came here. So now she wins gold at her new loft. The morning after, the 2nd arrival in the province was clocked at the same loft, and nationally, both of these top pigeons are good for a top 10 ranking. These pigeons love harsh and warm weather; that is when they are at their best.

A small detail: the pigeon that won provincial silver at Pau last year repeats this result and wins silver again. So, within two years, she will undoubtedly be among the best pigeons flying at Pau in our country.
