Cleirbaut Kris (Putte) - 1st National Argenton 11.600 youngsters (fastest 13.649p)
30 Aug 2025
After winning 1st National Limoges at this same address this season under the name Cleirbaut – Goovaerts, they also became 1st National Champion Long Distance Yearlings KBDB 2025 under the same name. Now, in the national race from Argenton, they were victorious in the lofts of Cleirbaut Kris with a young hen. She was the best young pigeon against 11,600 young pigeons and the fastest of the entire release. This was a total of 13,649 pigeons. Both national winners were bred from the same mother, a Carl Lambrechts, a remarkable detail. Both sires of the national winners are half-brothers and descend from the same sire, "Olympic Jan," who was also an Olympiad Pigeon in Brussels in 2017.
Young Pigeons
The young pigeons didn't fly much middle distance here this season; the oldest group flew Melun once and then went to Bourges. The youngest group flew Quievrain two or three times, then Noyon five times, and without a middle-distance race, they were now sent on to Argenton. It was a gamble, but it paid off. The day before Argenton, they flew Quievrain to really keep them in the groove.
We race our young pigeons with the sliding door system and leave them together for a fair amount of time in the spring to ensure they're properly paired. The national winner had found a spot on the floor in a box and was paired there. That must have been the right motivation for her.
All the pigeons were gathered at 2 p.m., at 3 p.m. Jens Goovaerts placed boxes in the loft, and at 6 p.m., everything was packed up. After the race, we usually leave them together until the following morning. This time, after Argenton, we even left them together until Monday morning to give the latecomers some time to enjoy themselves once they've recovered. They have a shorter race scheduled for the coming week before they return to Bourges. The national winner is no longer flying and has been moved to the breeding loft.
The young pigeons are darkened here from April until the longest day of the year. After that, we let them rest for two to three weeks, and then we start supplementing with lighting until the end of the season. We notice that when we really give them plenty of time, they naturally moult less. As a result, most of our pigeons had lost two or three feathers at Argenton.
