Combinate Bakker (Zoelen) Dutch top in the long-distance races

One of the regulars in Dutch pigeon racing is without any doubt the father-son combination Dolf and Ruud Bakker from Zoelen, located in the province of Gelderland. Since the start of their "pigeon career", and we are talking about the year 2007, they had only one goal in mind and that is to be among the best on the national N.U. and NPO long distance races (500-700km). To achieve this goal, they needed to invest in pigeons that could cover these distances perfectly and they found these in Ermerveen with Gerard Koopman. It was immediately "bingo" and over the years several Koopman pigeons transferred to the breeding loft of Comb. Bakker.

We would like to introduce to you some basic pigeons:

"Valitas"

A mealy cock, he is offspring of the old strain from before the Koopman period. Niet exact wetend waar deze klasse doffer uitkomt staat hij dus echt aan het begin van de lijn “Valitas” die zich al flink vermengd heeft met de Koopman duiven.Not exactly knowing the pedigree of this classpigeon he is really at the beginning of the strain "Valitas", his genes already been mixed substantially with the Koopman pigeons. Ofcourse Zijn carrière als vlieger heeft dat mogelijk gemaakt met maar liefst 4 top-tien noteringen op de NPO dagfondvluchten en als winnaar Blois 2012 in de Noordelijke Unie (samenspel afdelingen 7,8,9,10 en 11) tegen bijna 10.000 duiven.his career as racer made that possible with no less than 4 top-ten listings on the important NPO long distance races. Vandaar ook dat deze topper een periode op het kweekhok van Gerard Koopman mocht verblijven.Because of all this “Valitas” spend some time in Gerard Koopmans breeding loft. Op dit moment zit “Valitas” samen met 4 kinderen uit deze samenkweek weer op het kweekhok van Dolf en Ruud.At this time "Valitas" together with four of his co-bred children has a prominent place in the breedingloft of Dolf and Ruud. 
His strain became very important in Veenendaal. Sadly at this time “Valitas” does not fertilise anymore. 

“Germiny”

“Germiny”. A fantastic racer, especially on the long distance NPO-races. He wMet deze inbreng zijn Dolf en Ruud aardig op weg om een stam te bouwen naar eigen inzicht.- Of “Lord Ballina” die zich maar liefst 7x bij de eerste 32 duiven klasseerde in de moeilijke One Million Dollar Race (2012) in Zuid-Afrika tegen gemiddeld meer dan 4.100 duiven.on amongst other: 
1st price NPO Blois against 2.310 pigeons, is also 7th international N.U against 5.967 p. 
2nd price NPO Bourges against 4.814 pigeons, is also 3rd price international N.U. against 14.226 p.A fantastic flyer, especially on the long-distance NPO races. He won a.o: 
1st prize NPO Blois against 2,310 pigeons, also 7th international N.U. against 5,967d. 
2nd prize NPO Bourges against 4,814 pigeons, also 3rd prize international N.U. against 14,226b. 
6th prize NPO Bourges against 4,118 pigeons.
15th prize NPO Issoudun against 2,895 pigeons, also 18th prize International N.U. against 6,604b.
What a wealth to have such class pigeons in your breeding loft.
“Germiny” already (grand) father of several winner/top-10 racers

“Gene”. 

He is brother to “Germiny” and won 5 top-10 rankings on NPO long distance races. He won a.o.: 
3rd Vierzon against 2.671 pigeons is also 3rd in sector 3 against 8.065 and 3rd NU against 11.193.
3rd NPO Gien against 4.607 pigeons, 6th Chateaudun against 1.974 pigeons, Bourges 7th against 2.923 pigeons is also 7th NU against 16.658 pigeons. 
Other top-rankings:  Blois NPO 6 – 2.310 is also NU 40 – 5.967. Issoudun NPO 13 – 3.498 is also NU 24 – 13.906. Bourges I 20 – 4118, Bourges II 67 -  4.814 and Issoudun 37 – 2.895.

"Germiny' Dream": 1st National Ace Pigeon Ranking in 2022

In 2022, there was the move from Veenendaal to Zoelen so the 2022 season started with a small team of yearlings in a new loft, similar to the one in Veenendaal. What could Ruud and Dolf expect? The answer was simple "Just fly with these yearlings to hopefully be able to select some of them at the end of the season and together with the selection of youngsters 2022 to build a better and stronger loft for season 2023". But the small team of yearlings did very well, some results being:

These results ended up in winning the championship not nominated and nominated on the Oneday Long Distance races in Department 7. Also won 21-1032942 the titel 2nd acepigeon 
In the Pipa Ranking Netherlands Category Oneday Long Distance the 3rd, 7th and 8th best pigeon.
And in category combined Middle and Oneday Long Distance the “912” was best.

Also the youngbirds 2022 did enjoy the new loft and made some excellent results

Unfortunately, the season could not be completed due to an outbreak of bird flu.

The 2023 season

"It may be said" Ruud begins his story "I started the new 2023 season with a lot of question marks. Last year we played the first time at my new location at Zoelen with a small team of yearlings. They did very well. Our youngsters 2022 also stormed home when the season was suddenly done due to an outbreak of bird flu in neighbouring Maurik. We had to watch the last 4 youngster races from the sidelines. What now we thought? How can we select this team? Both my dad and I didn't know and decided to add an extra loft of 9 metres. The pigeons were placed in the new loft in early December and the preparation for the '23 season could begin. 

If we analyse it all now, buying an extra loft was apparently not such a crazy idea because the "inexperienced" yearlings did wonderfully well

22-07-2023: Issoudun 605 km. 85 pigeons basketed, 61 prices.

NU: 1-17-18-23-36-37-41-94 etc. against 10.332 duiven.

Class lady "Saraly" 

2023 was the year of "Saralay". She won 2 NPO long distance races. 

1st NPO La Ferte 3,493b. 
1st NPO Chateauroux 2,292b. – 2nd National 7,541b.

But she also did very well in the middle distance with an 11th against 9,142 pigeons and a 20th against 6,038 pigeons. She has earned her place in the breeding loft.
