Father-daughter duo Kris and Lieselotte De Bisschop dominate in the middle-distance races!
06 Nov 2026
Indeed, the turbo-boost has kicked in once again for the pigeon colony of Kris and Lieselotte De Bisschop from Essene! The father-daughter duo has enjoyed another exceptionally strong season, repeatedly demonstrating that their pigeons belong to the absolute elite. They were particularly impressive in the middle-distance races, frequently leaving their competition trailing far behind.
Their team of hens—consisting primarily of a robust group of yearlings, with only two older pigeons in the mix this season—truly shook the foundations in Essene. One stellar result followed another, with new stars constantly stepping into the spotlight. It is clear that this colony is built on a remarkably strong foundation, possessing depth in quality rather than relying on just one or two standout birds.
And as if that weren’t enough, the young bird contingent had yet to even begin! The performance of the youngsters further confirmed the immense strength of this colony. Following the brilliant year enjoyed by ‘Magic Senna,’ it became even more evident that they possess an exceptional arsenal of quality. New talents emerged, proving that the future looks incredibly bright.
Dominating against fields of 4,000 or even 5,000 pigeons? For this colony, it all seems perfectly achievable. Whether it involves experienced pigeons, yearlings, or the young generation, they consistently leave their mark on the race results. Achieving such success against large numbers is clearly no coincidence; it is the result of a strong bloodline, a well-considered selection process, and an excellent partnership between father and daughter.
The list of first-place finishes is nothing short of staggering. And all this against massive numbers of pigeons, no less! This is precisely what every fancier strives for: pigeons that don’t just look good on paper, but truly prove their quality when it matters most.
What’s also striking is that this loft doesn’t rely on big names or impressive pedigrees to make an impression. For Kris and Lieselotte, the performances speak for themselves—no grand claims, just rock-solid results.
And, ultimately, that is what the sport of pigeon racing is all about: it’s not what’s written on paper, but what the pigeons actually deliver in the race results.
They have once again proven that they possess a loft capable of excelling on every front. The turbo is running at full throttle in Essene, and it looks like we can expect plenty more from this father-daughter duo!

With results like these, the De Bisschop partnership confirms that rigorous selection, dedication, and teamwork can lead to top-tier performances. The results below speak for themselves.
We are pleased to introduce a few of the star performers currently setting the pace in Essene—pigeons that rank among the very best in middle-distance racing.
A rock-solid breeding loft as the foundation for future success
A look at the breeding loft of Kris and Lieselotte De Bisschop quickly reveals the source of much of their success. Behind their impressive race results lies a well-considered breeding strategy, built around a core of proven foundation pigeons that consistently pass on their quality from one generation to the next.
A cornerstone of this colony is the foundation sire, "Robbeke." This exceptional pigeon notably won 28th National Limoges against a field of 16,893 birds. Originally from the loft of Martin De Roover, he boasts a highly interesting pedigree: Lambrechts–Lismont x Louis Van Den Eynde x Roger Ponnet. Kris and Lieselotte were able to acquire him during a total dispersal sale—a decision that proved to be an incredibly successful investment. "Robbeke" was paired with several different hens, and his descendants have since more than proven their capabilities.
Having the good fortune to acquire such an outstanding pigeon at the right moment is an immense blessing when developing a racing loft. "Robbeke" has become a vital pillar of the breeding loft, and his influence remains clearly evident today in the performances of many of the loft’s top racers. The acquisition of ‘Steffi’—sourced from Wilfried Van De Maele—also proved to be a masterstroke. This exceptional breeding hen is the dam of two nest-brothers: ‘Den Hubert’ and ‘Aidi 1’. Both pigeons became national ace pigeons and have since proven their worth as breeders as well. Their superior genes are clearly passed on to subsequent generations, making their influence within the colony increasingly significant. Other pigeons from Wilfried have also proven to be ideal for crossbreeding, offering great potential for the future.
Furthermore, the successful introduction of pigeons from Team Noël–Willockx and Tom Van Gaver deserves special mention. Several top performers in the racing loft trace their origins back to these bloodlines. This serves as further proof that Kris and Lieselotte do not simply collect pigeons; rather, they purposefully seek out quality that can prove itself both in the racing loft and the breeding loft.
Ultimately, a key secret of this colony lies in how the various bloodlines are crossed. In particular, pairings between descendants of ‘Robbeke’ and other proven top-class pigeons consistently yield outstanding results. It is precisely here that the pieces of the puzzle fall into place, creating truly spectacular performances.
Below, we will introduce several of these pigeons—birds that require no elaborate explanation, as their achievements speak for themselves! The results clearly demonstrate that these pigeons possess exceptional qualities, allowing them to compete at the front week after week—even during a season when maintaining consistent performance was far from easy.
The new generation emerges
Meanwhile, attention is gradually shifting toward a new generation of breeders. The best racing pigeons from 2021, 2022, and 2023 have now secured a spot in the breeding loft. These are birds that had already firmly proven their worth in the racing loft—pigeons from which Kris and Lieselotte rightly have high expectations.
The initial results from this new breeding generation are exceptionally promising. Their offspring are increasingly coming to the fore, confirming that the decision to move these top performers to the breeding loft was the right one.
A prime example is ‘Lizzy.’ During her racing career, she won first prize in middle-distance races no fewer than three times and also achieved an impressive 13th place in the 2023 ‘World Best Pigeon’ (middle-distance) rankings. A racing hen with such a track record certainly deserves a place among the elite breeding hens. Her offspring are performing fantastically, demonstrating that Lizzy is also successfully passing on her qualities genetically.
‘Toby,’ ‘Bieke,’ ‘June,’ and ‘Nina’ also deserve special mention. Each of these birds performed exceptionally well in the racing loft and has since become an integral part of the breeding strategy. Their first descendants are also making their mark. Offspring from these bloodlines are currently featured in the auction.
This is, without a doubt, the new wave of talent upon which Kris and Lieselotte intend to build in the years to come. With proven foundation pigeons like Robbeke and Steffi as a cornerstone—complemented by the successful bloodlines of Noël-Willockx and Tom Van Gaver, as well as the latest generation of proven racing champions—this loft possesses some truly formidable assets.
The story of De Bisschop is about much more than just winning. It involves investing, selecting, targeted crossbreeding, and, above all, giving the right pigeons the chance to prove themselves in the breeding loft at the right time. Today’s results are a testament to a solid foundation, while the younger generations already signal that there is much more to look forward to in Essene!
