Frederik Bracke (Waregem) wins 1st Prov. Barcelona West Flanders against 1,002 pigeons

11 Jul 2025

On the prestigious international Barcelona race, Frederik Bracke from Waregem once again made his mark. With his cock BE22-3102635, he claimed 1st provincial prize in West Flanders against 1,002 pigeons—and in style: nationally he finished 18th against 6,167 pigeons.

Frederik looks back proudly on the build-up to this memorable result:
"After four strong national results on Pau (10th, 16th, 103rd and 106th nat. against 3,028 pigeons) and a solid performance percentage on Agen, it remained to be seen whether Barcelona would become the highlight. The pigeons were basketed on a youngster of 3 to 4 days old—a motivation that clearly paid off."

BE22-3102635 was the first to be clocked at 9:37:56. The time looked very promising, and that was soon confirmed: 1st provincial and 18th national Barcelona! A top-class result, and good enough to win the Belgian Masters.
This exceptional cock is no stranger to success: as a yearling he already won 1st zonal and 17th national Narbonne, making this his second provincial win on the extreme long distance.

The winner's pedigree is also very impressive. The pigeon comes directly from Nico Fourneau from Moen, Frederik's good friend and a strong name in Belgian pigeon racing.
The father is a brother of Blue Ace from Batenburg – Van de Merwe, "Blue Ace" won Ace Pigeon ELD WEHZB 2019, 2nd Nat. St-Vincent, 7th Nat. St-Vincent '19 and 9th Nat. Pau '18
The mother is a daughter of Nico Fourneau’s base hen, from the pairing Super 850 x Ernest hen.

In addition to this top result, the rest of Frederik’s pigeons also performed strongly, with 1st, 22nd, 72nd and 92nd provincial prizes, and nationally 136th, 408th and 524th against 6,167 pigeons.

A true team achievement, the result of years of dedication, strong friendships and a solid breeding base. Barcelona 2025 will not be forgotten in Waregem anytime soon.
