Hermans – Bonné (Loksbergen) shine with 1st Semi-National Sancoins 7,722 pigeons

The week after the national race from Bourges, a race from Sancoins was on the calendar in the province of Limburg together with Wallonia, which was organised by the AWC. No less than 7,722 pigeons came to the start and the winner we think is the top colony Hermans – Bonné from Loksbergen in Limburg, their yearling hen was the fastest yearling and also the fastest pigeon of the entire release. The father is a pigeon that he got from the late Roger Buvens from his top breeder “Waldo” and from the line of the golden breeding couple. The mother comes from Sabrina Brugmans where the second week in a row is being rocked with Brugmans pigeons. Last week Benny Steveninck won 1st Nat (z) and 1st Provincial Bourges with a 50% Brugmans pigeon and now he won here with a 50% Brugmans pigeon.
A boost for Wim and Roger after they placed a new garden loft last winter where the old and yearling hens flew so wonderfully last year. The loft was made a little deeper with a spacious corridor in front and also a hall where there is room to store baskets and clean drinking pots. For the rest, the loft is in exactly the same place and both the young pigeons and the racing hens have an aviary at the front that is screened off at the top with white veranda panels.
The hens were only put in the loft late in the winter period because it was not ready and because of that the start was perhaps a little less than in other years, but since May the hens have been on a roll and they do come home super. The trick is to be patient and also give the pigeons time to get used to the loft.
The hens did not breed during the winter period and were simply kept in an open aviary. They came to the loft in March and were then transferred. After they had flown their first flight, they were left in 2 groups with the cocks for 3 to 4 days. This way, the hens all had a permanent partner after 2 flights and when they left, the hens saw their partner for one hour. When they returned home, they were allowed to stay together for 1 to 2 hours at most. Simple and clear, that's all.
The hens fly once a day, always in the evening because Wim is working during the day and this is usually after the widowers who go outside at 4 p.m. During the day, the hens are always in the aviary and in the evening they are allowed inside the sleeping loft.
I mainly feed Versele Laga together with Super Recup from Anthoons and Sport Hi Tech from Anthoons in combination with Girl Power from Aidi. On Sundays they usually get a Satva tablet in the drinking water to disinfect the airways and I also use several products from Röhnfried. The racing pigeons always get a pill against tricho once a month during the season. The medical supervision is supervised by Raf Herbots.
