Humblet Mireille from Hermee wins 1st National Champion extreme long distance yearlings KBDB 2022

We end up in Hermee, this is a sub-municipality of the province of Liège where Mireille Humblet lives together with Jean Marc Jacquemain. Since 2013, races have been held here from short distance to extreme long distance, crowned with the title of 1st National Champion extreme long distance yearlings KBDB 2022. You only have 2 chances with Agen and Narbonne and then of course you have to grab this. But Mireille's 2 hens did not disappoint and brought home the national title.

Only with hens to the extreme long distance

It was decided to go to the extreme long distance with a team of 24 hens. They were coupled on March 7th and allowed to brood over, after which they were raced for widowhood until the end of the season.

The hens always train 2x a day, in the beginning this was 2x half an hour, 
but by the time they were basketed from Agen they easily completed 2x 1 hour. After Agen, training stopped a bit, but whether that was really necessary is a question mark for everyone.

The ladies are always locked up in their living box during the day and are therefore released twice a day to train and eat.

When basketing they come together for 5 to 10 minutes at the beginning and then this increases to one hour. When they return home at the sprint they stay together for one hour and on the 2 races that were important to them (Agen and Narbonne) they stayed together until the morning after.

The preparation for Agen started in April with several speed races, after which they flew 3x Trelou (200km), Chalons and 2x Argenton. Between Agen and Narbonne they only flew Cul-Des-Sarts (120km).
The best hens of the 2022 season were only trained up to 150km in the 2021 season. The intention is to let these youngsters gain more experience in the future to perform even better as a yearling.

Power supply

The pigeons here mainly get the Hoebrechts mixtures during the rest period. In the preparation we mainly use Winter mixture together with 4 Seasons, then we add Sport to this. We only use Premium Fond from Matador for the last few days in the long distance. Towards the basketing they also get daily sweets and peanuts and the shorter the basketing is, the more they get of this. When they return home, electrolytes are always ready and they receive Backs Protein Plus once a week to recuperate.

In the medical field, they received a 7-day cure against tricho before the racing season and they receive a tricho and coccidiosis pill before each extreme long distance race so that we are sure that they are completely clean when they are basketed. For airways nothing has been done for years.The racing pigeons were given a cure against paratyphus in the autumn, but without vaccination. They are vaccinated against paramyxo – herpes – adeno in the spring.
