Iwens Jan & Tom (Sint-Katelijne-Waver) win 2nd National Argenton 1,787 old birds

On the penultimate race of the 2024 season, the pigeons again had to deal with one extra night in the basket. This was certainly a wise decision with the nice weather that was present on the flight line on Sunday morning. The pigeons again got a tailwind, which meant that high speeds were again present, just like 14 days ago from Argenton. The first national pigeons are spread across the country and the silver or 2nd place among the old pigeons goes to Jan & Tom Iwens in Sint-Katelijne-Waver in Antwerp. Their hens were specially placed in a nest with the aim of being able to compete with the best nationally in the last 2 national race
The race from Argenton is their favorite race on which they have already won a 1st National with the young pigeons and the mother of the winner then and now are full sisters of each other. You will also find super racers on your father's side at Argenton via Van den Abbeel - Van Paesschen, where this contribution has already been successful..

Only with hens
The hens are raced in classic widowhood until the beginning of August. Afterwards we left them together in mid-August and they were now basketed at Argenton at a position of 12 to 15 days of breeding. They were stopped for a while for laying and were then put back into position, they flew 1x Quievrain, 2x Noyon and then towards Argenton. The winner of Argenton also won a 1st prize at Quievrain on eggs last week.
The hens now train in the afternoon when the cocks are in the nest and will go to Chateauroux one more time next week. To get the pigeons into the rhythm a little extra, we drove them 1 to 2 times a week up to 25 km.
