Johan De Belser (Berlaar) – proven top quality from Berlaar

21 Oct 2026

A strain that produces national winners

Through his exceptional performances in national races, Johan de Belser has amply demonstrated over the past few years that he possesses pigeons of absolute top quality.

In 2020, he shone with ‘Het 001’, which secured the title of 3rd National Ace Pigeon Greater Middle Distance (Yearlings) for the KBDB. Two years later, another milestone was reached with ‘Sarah’, who won 1st National Châteauroux in 2022 against 5,720 pigeons—also clocking the fastest time among a total of 9,723 competing birds.

His colony continues to deliver impressive results to this day. With ‘Rayo’, Johan claimed the title of 1st National Ace Pigeon Greater Middle Distance (Old Birds) for the KBDB in 2026. Furthermore, he finished as 4th National Champion (1+2 nominated) in the Greater Middle Distance (Old Birds) category for the KBDB, based on five national races.

These achievements—alongside numerous other top national results and international successes in One Loft Races (OLR), including in China—confirm the exceptional quality of his colony. Fanciers both at home and abroad highly value the strong performances and the high-quality bloodlines of the pigeons from Berlaar.

The foundation of this successful colony was carefully built using pigeons from sources including his father, Vic De Belser; Gaston Van de Wouwer (Berlaar); Jos and Jules Engels (Putte); Geert Lambrechts (Hallaar); Jos Maris (Itegem); Luc Vervoort (Hallaar); Willy Daniels (Kessel); Frans and Dirk Maris (Itegem); as well as Pieter Veenstra, the partnership of Fokkinga-Elzinga, and Peter Schmitz—all from the Netherlands. The result is a strong, well-balanced strain in which proven racing performance and exceptional breeding value go hand in hand.

"Daughter Torre 491" – an indispensable link in the bloodline

One of the most important hens in the colony is "Daughter Torre 491" (BE14-6070491), a granddaughter of the world-famous "Kaasboer" from Gaston Van de Wouwer. This exceptional breeding hen has left her mark on the current bloodline of Johan De Belser.

Her sire is "Torre" (BE03-6257240), an original pigeon from Gaston Van de Wouwer and one of the best breeding sons of the legendary "Kaasboer."

"Torre" proved his immense breeding value through several national top performers. His descendants include, among others:

  • "Kim" – 1st National Guéret against 14,245 pigeons, 4th Provincial Salbris against 1,080 pigeons, and 38th National Argenton against 23,900 pigeons.
  • "Sister Kim" – 1st Provincial Montluçon against 1,913 pigeons.
  • "Marieke" – 5th National Limoges against 14,211 pigeons.
  • "Dina" – 9th National Zone Bourges against 11,739 pigeons and 28th National Bourges against 30,742 pigeons.

Furthermore, "Torre" is the grandfather—on both the sire’s and dam’s side—of "New Kim," the 1st National Ace Pigeon Greater Middle Distance (KBDB) in 2018.

There is also a great deal of quality on the dam’s side. "Daughter Torre 491" is a daughter of "Angel" (BE12-6060228), who in turn descends from "Rik," a... ...a direct son of the ‘Kaasboer’.

That this bloodline has more than proven its worth is evident from the performances of the current generation. In Johan’s loft today, we find several direct and indirect descendants of this powerful bloodline, including:

  • ‘Sarah’: 1st Nat. Chateauroux 5,720 birds, 2022
  • ‘Melina’: 1st Nat. Zone Bourges 818 birds, 2025; 5th Nat. Bourges 5,261 birds, 2025; 16th Semi-Nat. Vierzon 6,538 birds, 2026; 18th Nat. Sancoins 12,958 birds, 2024; 18th Nat. Bourges 7,617 birds, 2024; 18th Nat. Argenton 4,077 birds, 2025; 10th Nat. Ace Pigeon Yearlings Greater Middle Distance KBDB, 2024; 10th Nat. Ace Pigeon Greater Middle Distance KBDB, 2025
  • ‘Super 491’: 31st Nat. Chateauroux 17,081 birds; 183rd Nat. Bourges 9,922 birds; 197th Nat. Argenton 8,867 birds; 296th Nat. Argenton 15,210 birds; 365th Nat. Bourges 12,094 birds; 559th Nat. Argenton 14,174 birds
  • ‘Anima Bella’: 27th Nat. Argenton 21,282 birds; 76th Nat. Chateauroux 2,396 birds; 543rd Nat. Chateauroux 20,789 pigeons.
  • ‘New 491’: 135th Nat. Argenton 9,851 pigeons - 186th Nat. Issoudun 14,758 pigeons.

A foundation hen that not only combines impressive performances in her pedigree but also demonstrably passes on her qualities to subsequent generations.

"Daughter Torre 491" passed away some time ago, but in this auction, you can still find two of her grandchildren—featured in lot 10 and lot 11.

‘Sarah’ – 1st National Châteauroux against 5,720 pigeons

‘Sarah’ (BE21-6030711) is one of the absolute stars of the loft. In 2022, she won 1st National Châteauroux against 5,720 pigeons, and was also the fastest bird across the entire field of 9,723 competing pigeons. A national victory of this caliber takes on even greater significance when examining her pedigree. It brings together several proven, high-performing bloodlines originating from Geert Lambrechts, Johan De Belser, and Gaston Van de Wouwer.

Her sire, BE20-6093302, is a pure Geert Lambrechts pigeon, bred directly from two exceptional performers.

Her grandfather, BE16-6100457, distinguished himself by securing top prizes in three consecutive weeks from Noyon. Her grandmother, BE16-6100449, was also an absolute top-class pigeon, with achievements including 4th National Châteauroux against 14,762 pigeons and 2nd Provincial against 1,406 pigeons. The quality on the dam’s side is equally impressive. Her grandmother, ‘Daughter Torre 491’, is the dam of ‘Het 001’ (BE19-6035001), which earned the title of 3rd National Ace Pigeon Greater Middle Distance (Yearlings) KBDB in 2020. This exceptional breeding hen bridges the loft’s own De Belser line with the proven Van de Wouwer bloodline, serving as a vital link in the success of the colony. ‘Liande 3’ (BE15-6285324), the dam of ‘Sarah’, also contributes a highly valuable foundation. She is a daughter of ‘Super 083/02’ (BE02-6183083)—a son of ‘Goldwin’ and a nest-brother to the foundational sire ‘Den 500’. ‘Goldwin’ is the grandsire of two absolute top-class pigeons: ‘Amalia’, 1st National Ace Pigeon Greater Middle Distance KBDB 2011, and ‘Nicolaas’, 1st National Ace Pigeon Greater Middle Distance KBDB 2013.

Grandchildren of ‘Sarah’ can be found under lots 8 + 9.

‘Double 9’ (BE19-6035099) is also one of the absolute top pigeons belonging to Johan De Belser. With several strong national and provincial results, this pigeon has proven to possess a great deal of class.

Her most significant achievements:

  • 1st Interprovincial Vierzon against 4,019 pigeons.
  • 1st Provincial Issoudun against 1,286 pigeons.
  • 4th National Issoudun against 9,777 pigeons.
  • 23rd National Argenton against 26,085 pigeons.

Her sire, ‘Rainbow’ (BE18-6061091), achieved a 4th National Issoudun against 11,465 pigeons himself and has also proven his worth as a breeder.

Her grandfather, BE17-6034724, is a pigeon obtained directly from Raymond Ceulemans and has become a valuable breeder for Johan De Belser.

Her grandmother, ‘Souke’ (BE14-6070492), is a superb breeding hen, bred directly from ‘Junior 500’ x ‘Dolcy’. Both names are closely linked to the family of ‘Het 001’, the 3rd National Ace Pigeon Greater Middle Distance Yearlings (KBDB 2020).

Both ‘Junior 500’ and ‘Dolcy’ descend from ‘Den 500’, an exceptional racer and breeder whose achievements include 21st National Bourges against 15,716 pigeons, 28th Provincial Argenton against 4,955 pigeons, 35th National Châteauroux against 6,494 pigeons, and 38th National Bourges against 36,506 pigeons. ‘Den 500’ is a son of the foundational breeding pair ‘Oskar’ x ‘Fijneke’.

Also appearing in the maternal line are ‘Liande 3’ and ‘Daughter Torre 491’—two names firmly rooted in the successful bloodline of Johan De Belser.

A half-brother to "Double 9," who is also a son of "Rainbow," can be found in Lot 1.

‘Het 001’ – BE19-6035001

An impressive track record

The titles and awards earned by this high-class hen speak for themselves:

  • 3rd National Ace Pigeon, Yearlings, Greater Middle Distance – KBDB 2020
  • 3rd Best Argenton Pigeon in Belgium – 2020
  • 7th Best Châteauroux Pigeon in Belgium – 2020

A national title, earned through top-tier results

‘Het 001’ secured her title as 3rd National Ace Pigeon (Greater Middle Distance, Yearlings, KBDB 2020) thanks to the following exceptional national performances:

  • 9th National Zone Châteauroux I – 10,995 pigeons, 522 km – 0.0805%
  • 21st National Argenton – 26,085 pigeons, 551 km – 0.0819%
  • 37th National Châteauroux II – 6,306 pigeons, 522 km – 0.3890%
  • 62nd National La Souterraine I – 15,939 pigeons, 588 km – 0.5867%

She also demonstrated her talent as a young bird; in 2019, she achieved 36th National Argenton against 3,258 pigeons.

‘Het 001’ descends from the very best bloodlines in Johan’s loft, combined with the finest stock from the loft of his good friend, Gaston Van de Wouwer. The collaboration between the two fanciers has clearly borne fruit. The exceptional performances of this hen serve as a wonderful testament to that.

Through her pedigree, she also traces back to the renowned ‘Den 500’, the foundation of an exceptional line of performers. Furthermore, she descends from ‘Stekpender’ by Vic De Belser—a super-racer who won no fewer than seven first prizes.

Mother: BE14-6070491 – ‘Dochter Torre’ (‘Daughter of Torre’)

Inbred to ‘Kaasboer’ – Gaston Van de Wouwer

Grandfather: BE03-6257240 – ‘Torre’, bred by Gaston Van de Wouwer

‘Torre’ is one of the best breeding sons of the world-famous ‘Kaasboer’. His exceptional breeding ability is evidenced by the performances of several of his descendants:

  • ‘Kim’ – 1st National Gueret against 14,245 pigeons, 4th Provincial Salbris against 1,080 pigeons, and 38th National Argenton against 23,900 pigeons.
  • ‘Sister Kim’ – 1st Provincial Montluçon against 1,913 pigeons.

Furthermore, ‘Torre’ is the grandfather—via two different bloodlines—of ‘New Kim’, the 1st National Ace Pigeon Greater Middle Distance KBDB 2018.

Grandmother: BE12-606023228 – ‘Angel’

‘Angel’ is a daughter of ‘Rik’, who in turn is a direct son of the world-famous ‘Kaasboer’ from Gaston Van de Wouwer.

Unfortunately, "Het 001" passed away at a far too young age; consequently, only grandchildren are currently available for purchase. You can find grandchildren of "Het 001" in lots 3, 7, 10, and 11.

International Successes in One Loft Races

The quality of De Belser pigeons is not limited to Belgian national races. Remarkable results have also been achieved in international One Loft Races, including those held in China.

The results of ‘Rayo’, ‘Melina’, ‘Loki’, ‘Lorena’, ‘Nine Again’, and numerous other pigeons confirm that the loft has continued to perform at a high level throughout the most recent seasons.

A few examples from 2024, 2025, and 2026:

  • ‘Melina’ – 10th National Ace Pigeon (Greater Middle Distance, Yearlings) for the KBDB in 2024 and again in 2025, in addition to several top national placings in races from Bourges, Sancoins, Argenton, and Vierzon.
