Kamp/Kippers leading in Section 9 East Netherlands and suppliers of the 1st and 3rd Olympiad pigeon Cat. G 2025 (Slovakia)

17 Jan 2026

By 2025, all doubts will have been dispelled: the Kamp/Kippers combination has firmly established itself at the very top of Dutch pigeon racing. Jan Kippers, together with brothers Maarten and Robert Jan Kamp, competing in the extremely strong Section 9, set the standard in sprint and middle distance racing this season. Their performances were rewarded with the title of Best Loft Unassigned Sprint and Middle Distance. In the midst of an extremely competitive playing field, they are tested to the limit every week, and it is precisely this constant pressure that proves to be the catalyst for performances of an exceptionally high level. What really characterizes them is their relentless drive for progress. Over the years, they have invested in new blood with a keen eye. This has been met with varying degrees of success, but in recent seasons, everything has come together perfectly. The contribution of the Van den Brande brothers in particular has proven to be invaluable. Descendants of De Diamant, including a son from 401 x Sneeuwwitje, are performing at an almost unprecedented level.

In addition, pigeons from Mees Doornekamp, Maarten Huijsmans, G. & H. Calis, and Dennis Van Toor (Gebr. Van Toor) also made a significant impact on the loft. Leonidas (Maarten Huijsmans) proved to be an exceptional breeding cock, while Xenia (Maarten Huijsmans) developed into a true top breeding hen. Leo's Diamond (Maarten Huijsmans X Gebr. Van den Brande) was immediately moved to the breeding loft after an impressive season as a yearling. And then there is Nova's Baron (G. & H. Calis): what this cock has produced in terms of top flyers against thousands of pigeons borders on the unbelievable. In the past year, additional reinforcements for the one-day long distance were obtained from R.C. Bakker (Zoelen) and Jo Hendrikx & Zn (Nijswiller), among others, exclusively from the very best stock.

But let's first list the facts:

The combination competes in division 9, where it takes on 1,432 pigeon fanciers. Below you can see the Sprint champions of division 9 and the Middle Distance champions of division 9.

As is clear, no points were awarded to the Kamp/Kippers combination in flight 5. This was a Sunday flight; they do not clock any pigeons on that day. This also explains why the Kamp/Kippers combination is rarely found in the national championships: those rankings do not take into account fanciers who do not clock on Sundays. However, within division 9 there are also championships in which Sunday flights are not taken into account. In those competitions, the Kamp/Kippers combination naturally managed to take first place.

Excellent performances from 2025–2024

1st – 3rd Olympiad pigeons 2025 Slovakia

Jozef Bednár from Slovakia was also looking for quality pigeons and ended up at Combinatie Kamp/Kippers. What followed was a textbook example of “buy, see, and conquer.” In 2025, he achieved impressive chain results against very large numbers of racing pigeons. The result was impressive: the 3rd, 5th, and 7th National Ace Pigeon among the yearlings in Slovakia are all 100 percent Kamp/Kippers pigeons. It is striking that, unlike the Olympiad pigeon, these titles were mainly achieved with pigeons of the Gebr. van den Brande type crossed with the Gebr. van Toor type. When you perform so strongly at the national level, the step to becoming an Olympic candidate is often a small one. The fact that NL24-8150376 was ultimately given the name “Olympic Maarten” underlines Jozef Bednár's appreciation for the contribution of the Kamp/Kippers combination, and in particular for Maarten Kamp, who is the point of contact for many fanciers. This achievement will undoubtedly have been received with great pride in the Kamp-Kippers household, especially since the pigeon bears Maarten's name. The honorary prizes won by Olympic Maarten were won at the provincial level in Slovakia, each time against considerable numbers of pigeons. At that level, pigeons of real quality can clearly distinguish themselves.

But that's not all. There is a second Olympiad pigeon in which Combination Kamp/Kippers plays a significant role. The 1st National Ace Yearling in Slovakia, which also won 1st place in category G at the Olympiad, owned by fancier Martin Macej, carries a significant amount of Kamp/Kippers blood. The mother of this top bird comes from “Blue Marcel” x “Diamonds Lady,” both owned by the Van den Brande brothers. Below is the pedigree of the mother.

In this auction, lot 4 is a daughter of Blue Marcel. Lot 1 is a daughter of Diamonds Lady, and lots 8+9 are her grandchildren.

LOT 4:  half-sister of the 1st Nat. Ace Pigeon and 1st Olympiad Pigeon Cat. G Slovakia

LOT 1:   half-sister of the 1st Nat. Ace Pigeon and 1st Olympiad Pigeon Cat. G Slovakia

The pigeons that Jozef Bednár purchased from Combinatie Kamp/Kippers have also proven to be extremely well suited to the hilly Slovakian landscape. The crosses between the Van den Brande type (Diamant variety) and the Gebr. van Toor variety are perfectly at home there. In this terrain, strength and endurance make all the difference.

LOT 2:  50% Gebr. Van Toor  and granddaughter from top breeders “Callisto” and “Totillas”

The figures speak for themselves and are nothing short of impressive: 50 percent of the 1st National Ace Pigeon Yearlings consists of Kamp/Kippers blood, while the 3rd, 5th, and 7th National Ace Pigeon Yearlings are even 100 percent Kamp/Kippers pigeons. To put these achievements into perspective: Slovakia has approximately 3,200 active pigeon fanciers, spread across about 40 clubs, and is about 1.3 times the size of the Netherlands in terms of surface area.

Olympic Maarten descends from the well-known Calis and Huijsmans lines. These bloodlines can be found in purchases 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12.

Below PURCHASE 3:  son “Leonidas” (Maarten Huijsmans)
