Marc De Cock (Temse) wins 1st Nat. Zone Limoges against 3,672 old birds

06 Jun 2025

Marc De Cock from Temse once again made headlines in the national pigeon racing scene. With his hen BE 23-4001860, nicknamed “Torpedo Girl”, he claimed victory in the 1st National Zone (B1) Limoges against 3,672 old birds. In addition, she simultaneously achieved a 16th place at national level against 13,016 pigeons. A triumph that fits perfectly into the impressive record De Cock has built over the years.

A hit from the start

“Torpedo Girl” was the first nominated bird to be basketed from a team of twenty, and expectations were high. “What do you think? First one entered, of course you’re hoping for the best,” Marc says modestly. And rightly so, the blue hen raced head and shoulders to victory from Limoges.

Golden genes

One look at BE 23-4001860’s pedigree reveals that this hen is built from pure class. Her bloodline features a who's who of national and provincial champions from recent decades. On her father's side, she descends directly from Steveninck Benny, with numerous national top results in Châteauroux, La Souterraine, and Argenton in this bloodline. On her mother’s side, we find the legendary “Johan 275” – 3rd Nat. Ace Pigeon KBDB LD’15 and 1st Prov. Ace KBDB LD’15 – and his exceptional daughter “797/17”, a proven breeder. The line also includes champions, icons in today’s pigeon racing.

Simplicity as a strength

Marc De Cock races on the total widowhood system and keeps his approach simple yet deliberate. “From the beginning of April, they go every week, that’s the build-up to a national classic like Limoges.” When it comes to feeding, the philosophy is straightforward: “As much as they want. No supplements, no additives. It has to come from within.”

Pure enjoyment

When asked what this victory means to him, Marc remains humble yet clear: “Every win is nice. That’s why we do it.” And that simplicity, paired with a rock-solid bloodline and focused loft management, proves to be a recipe for continued success.
