Myron Mestrini – The Wizard of Beek from the Netherlands in the extreme long distance
27 Aug 2026
Yes, you read that right. The wizard of Beek from the Netherlands is bidding farewell to pigeon racing. His name is Myron Mestrini, a young, driven enthusiast who is now quitting pigeon racing due to a demanding job and a very busy private schedule. He doesn't want to race just for fun or to win a prize. The pigeons need optimal care, and with the time I have now, that is no longer possible.
Barely 7 years ago, he entered the sport without any prior knowledge. Hats off to him for being able to present such a track record 7 years later in his beloved long-distance races. Only a national victory is missing, but anyone who can win 5 x Top 8 National in just 3 seasons belongs among the very best champions in his discipline.
He discovered pigeon racing because of a lost pigeon found among his horses in 2018. This brought him into contact with the brothers Wil & Johan Boonen from Buggenum in the Netherlands. Oh yes, the two brothers who have both National Marseille and National Barcelona on their record. Johan and Wil assisted Myron with advice and pigeons, and consequently, several top pigeons descend from these birds. In addition, I also approached fanciers who could already present multiple credentials in the demanding long-distance races, and that is how I ended up with Thei Peters, Frank Zwiers, Lei Martens, Theo Daalmans, Corstjens and the Jacobs family. I built my strain around these pigeons and let the basket do the selection. That is the only thing that counts for me: putting them in the basket and testing them over the distance for which they are intended. Here in the Netherlands, too, yearlings are raced in the tough Marseille race, and Myron's pigeons have already proven time and again that they are cut from the right cloth for this, capable of flying in extremely tough conditions, and have therefore developed quickly for this hard work.
Even when handling the first pigeons from this colony, you knew immediately that you were dealing with a top colony. The pigeons have an abundance of feathers, are round-bodied with good muscles, and can truly handle the distance. You cannot tell their character from the outside, but they will have to prove that for themselves in the air.
This is now coming to an end; breeders, racers, and young pigeons alike will go under the hammer starting September 19 via our website www.herbots.be. A total of 56 pigeons will be auctioned. We will certainly introduce some of the top performers to you further in this article.

NL 22-8628553 “Kiki”
This top hen scored silver at Pau National in 2024 against 4,310 pigeons. The year before, as a yearling, she also won 78th National Marseille against 3,200 pigeons.
“Kiki” was subsequently put into breeding, and her 2 grandchildren won 1st and 25th NPO Bressols in 2026 against 2,226 pigeons. So both flying and breeding are in her genes.
NL 22-8628499 “Meike”
The wonder hen who never missed a beat in the tough long distance races in 2023, 2024, and 2025. She flew Agen and Marseille as a yearling, Pau and Marseille as an old bird, and in 2025 she won 5th National Dax against 2,230 pigeons and 42nd National Pau against 3,503 pigeons. How do you say something like that? Good wine gets better with…. Indeed, “Meike” was a top-class pigeon as a yearling with 90th National Marseille and continued her momentum in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Afterwards, she was retired due to her impressive palmares. She became 4th Ace Pigeon tough long distance over 3 years in 6 races. There was an option not to perform, but she simply did not. She simply showed 100% at the start every time and scored 6 out of 6.
She is also a direct daughter of “Theike”, the super breeder of Thei Peters, and therefore a half-sister of “Michelle”, 4th National Marseille 2025.
NL 23-9470858 “Vic”
Oh yes, a cock that won 3rd National Marseille as a yearling against 2,855 pigeons over a distance of 855 km. Truly a special cock with a special pedigree. His 3 grandparents were top performers in the tough long distance races. We introduce them one by one: “Super 679” became 1st National Ace Pigeon Marseille 2019-2021 and also won 2nd National Agen out of 6,844 pigeons at Wil & Johan Boonen; “Lowie” won 1st NPO Bergerac 1,908p (3rd National out of 21,204p) at Wil & Johan Boonen; “New Janske” won 1st Nat Marseille 2,735d (2nd Int.National out of 10,029p) at Wil & Johan Boonen.
NL 25-1439632 “Maximus”
The new crack of 2026. As a yearling, he won 1st NPO this year at Bressols against 2,226 pigeons over a distance of 848 km at a speed of 1,103 m/min.
His father is “Max”, a proven champion who classified well in his race of truth from 2021 to 2023. “Max” is a half-brother of “Meike” (see above), who won 5th National Dax in 2025, and is also a half-brother of “Michelle”, 4th National Marseille 2025.
His mother is “Julia”, who is also present in the auction and is a daughter of the aforementioned champion “Kiki”.
NL 22-8628568 “Lenie”
This top hen scored a top 3 provincial finish at both Perpignan and Barcelona in 2025. She comes from the best Barcelona bloodline of Wil & Johan Boonen, with which they themselves also won 1st NPO Barcelona in 2025.
NL 23-9470843 “Michelle”
A new top performer from Marseille, “Michelle” won 4th National Marseille in 2025 against 2,347 old pigeons and is a daughter of super breeder “Theike” from Thei Peters, and is therefore a half-sister of top breeder “Max” and half-sister of super hen “Meike”. Her mother comes from Wil & Johan Boonen and is a daughter of “Miss Perpignan” who won 10th National Perpignan against 4,789 pigeons.
NL 25-1439608 “Emily”
Is this the new super hen in the making whose career is being cut short prematurely? As a yearling to Marseille, and this in extremely tough conditions. She did not disappoint and was the first yearling on the national results in the Netherlands. She won 56th National against 1,863 pigeons, having previously scored well at Issoudun as preparation.
Both her parents and her grandfather (on her father's side) are included in this auction. Proven top pigeons on both the father's and mother's side. Her grandfather “Lenn” won 30th National Marseille and her grandmother “Romé” won 47th National Marseille.
NL 20-1685160 “Blue Barca”
This top cock won a nice prize at Barcelona for 5 years in a row and thus becomes 11th Int.Nat Ace Pigeon Barcelona 2022-2026.
A huge advantage of this cock is that his offspring also won 61st National Agen in 2025 against 5,299 pigeons. His father comes from Harry Hendriks with a direct son of “Jordi” who won 7th Nat Bergerac and 16th Nat Marseille. The mother is a direct hen from Wil & Johan Boonen and is inbred to “New Janske” 1st National Marseille.
