Jo Herbots was walking past the pigeons on display during the Olympiad in Nitra when one particular pigeon immediately caught his eye. "What kind of guy is that?" Jo thought to himself, and curious as he was, he took a closer look. Not only the pigeon itself, but also the performances achieved were of rarely seen quality.

Ring number DV01274-10-272” … owner of this top pigeon… Wolfgang Roeper. A few minutes later, Jo was already talking to Wolfgang, and the deal was sealed. A few days later, “Der 272” was already in the breeding loft in Halle-Booienhoven and was renamed “Big Boss.”“Big Boss” developed into a true top breeder.

Florian Hendriks: sees a bright future in breeding hen "Roeper 642"

Jo and Florian Hendriks are always looking for top pigeons to strengthen their already strong breeding stock. A challenging task, as the proverbial "selection bar" is set very high in Nijswiller.
Over the past two years, Florian has invested in Wolfgang Roeper pigeons, and it increasingly appears to be a "golden investment."
Especially in hen "Roeper 642" (DV04176-25-642) – a granddaughter of "Olympic 495" – there's a bright future. She is already the dam of "587-25," winner of:

The near future will have to provide confirmation, but Florian is fully confident.

 

Now…10 years after the successful sale of his breeding pigeons…the Roeper colony is sadly coming to an end! When Jo Herbots visited Wolfgang a few weeks ago, all 13 remaining racing pigeons were given to Jo Herbots. As Wolfgang handed the pigeons to Jo, he whispered: "Make this a successful sale, because I know that with the quality available, the buyers will be successful. I wish them all the best."
