Patrick Draye and Rudy Denies from Sint-Joris-Weert have a very strong breeding loft

Last season, we also visited them for some great victories. That time, it was superstar "Wilfried" who took home the honors for the Patrick Draye and Rudy Denies colony in Sint Joris-Weert, Brabant. This season, a full brother of "Wilfried" won 1st Nat. (z) against 1,326 yearlings in Tulle. We'll definitely return to this top family later in this article.

Furthermore, the contribution of Willem De Bruijn pigeons is another success story. By pairing two Willem De Bruijn pigeons, the renowned "Geeloger" was created, which became 1st National Ace Pigeon All Round KBDB 2023. This contribution is also reflected in Patrick's work, and he focuses primarily on the "Uranus" line. In 2023, Patrick purchased a daughter of Uranus at the Willem De Bruijn auction, and her child, "652/25," became 1st Provincial Ace Pigeon All-Round Young Birds KBDB 2025 for Erik Limbourg. How was it again? The apple doesn't fall far...

To return to "Wilfried," we'll look at the first national ace pigeon bred here and where it all began in recent years. "Wilfried's" sire is a half-brother of "Festina," who, with a 6th and 8th National Ace Pigeon Middle Distance KBDB in 2019 and 2020, was the founder of this new top colony. Then came "Rolex," 1st National Ace Pigeon Middle Distance KBDB, and this superstar, "Wilfried." In between they also had “Gueretje”, a hen that won 1st S.Prov.Gueret but won a total of 9 pure first prizes and flew 10 x per 100. She also became 1st Provincial Ace Pigeon extreme middle distance yearlings KBDB 2022. In 2022 there was also “Carine”, 1st S.Nat. La Chatre 8,382 pigeons, bred from a sister of "Festina." The following year, "Dreamliner" won 1st S.Nat. La Chatre 3,399 pigeons and 5th National Bourges 6,713 pigeons. His brother, "Big Brother," is present in the new top auction and has won two TOP 20 National prizes.

The common thread running through this colony is a family of winners and ace pigeons that rarely miss. This is mainly supported by the Erik Limbourg breed, which makes up 75% of the colony, supplemented by a half-round from Guido Van Caneghem in 2017 and pigeons from Geert De Clercq, Jan Mees, Hazaert Gerry, Vermeerbergen-Wilms, and Deneys Dimitri. The latest acquisitions come from Willem De Bruijn, where this input has already been very successful for both Erik Limbourg and Patrick himself, thanks in part to the famous "Geeloger," 1st National. Ace Pigeon All Round KBDB 2023. But Patrick's conclusion is, it all starts with good pigeons...

This top-class pigeon had to end his 2025 season early, returning home injured from a race at the end of May, and Patrick didn't dare race him again this season. He will remain in the racing team next season, hoping to shine again. He had a fantastic start to the season, flying early from St. Soupplets – Melun and Toury.

His younger brother, "515/24," won 1st Nat (z) from Tulle this season against 1,326 yearlings (28th National 5,889 p), and his youngest brother won a 1st prize in the middle distance this year for Erik Limbourg in a tough middle distance race from Montargis. This breeding line is fantastic and will produce even more super racers in the coming years.
