Patrick Vervloesem (Rijmenam) currently has the best old pigeon in the one-day long distance

In the month of June, this pigeon was named Ace Pigeon of the Month in the Herbots Long Distance Championship. Now, a few weeks later, this pigeon is in the lead to become 1st National Long Distance Ace Pigeon KBDB. This top performer needed just one more early prize, and he stormed to both the provincial and zonal victory in Perigueux for the colony of Patrick Vervloesem from Rijmenam, near Antwerp. With this, he stands a strong chance of winning the title of National Ace Pigeon with one race still to fly this coming Saturday. We shall see who comes out on top, but this cracker simply remains an outstanding pigeon. System

The widowers are raced using the classic widowhood system and were paired in the spring. By mid-March, the youngsters were grown, and all pigeons went into widowhood. At the beginning of the year, one has to be very careful here with birds of prey as well; that is why the pigeons certainly do not train every day at the start, as it is simply too risky. As they get into better condition, they do go out every day. Once they head towards the middle distance races, the pace is increased somewhat and they train twice a day. Personally, he believes the pigeons really need this to get into shape when they face tough middle-distance races or their first national races of the season. At that point, the pigeons really need to be fully flown in. After that, the training slows down again and they fly once a day. However, the training here is always good and hard for an hour.

The cocks themselves always get to see their hens; on shorter races, this is usually just before basketing. After spending two nights in the basket, they are allowed to eat well on Thursday morning, get to see their hens for an hour or an hour and a half in the afternoon or late afternoon, and then they leave again. The pigeons then settle down and start eating well again. This is quite important to me, and it also allows you to put the pigeons in the basket much more calmly. The pigeons here are always fed the mixtures from the Beyers range.
