National races and young pigeons: a success story between Sabrina Brugmans from Halen in Limburg and her colony. In last weekend's national race from Argenton, he scored yet another 1st and 2nd Provincial against 1,005 young pigeons, as well as 1st and 2nd Nat (z) against 1,409 pigeons. These two young hens also won 5th and 6th national against 11,600 young pigeons.
Young Pigeons
The young pigeons are divided into three lofts and are primarily fed a lighter mixture in the spring, consisting of Beyers Youngsters and Matador Young Pigeons Hot. When the season starts, he continues to use Beyers Youngsters at the beginning of the week and then switches to the Aidi schedule, just like with his old pigeons. The youngsters are also darkened from March 14th to June 20th; supplemental lighting usually doesn't begin until three weeks before Bourges. The pigeons are put on the sliding door system after flying Soissons twice, and afterward, they all come together on Thursday, just like his old birds. Usually, they're released 10 minutes apart after the hens on Thursday morning, and they return home immediately. They can then stay together until early afternoon, and they also get a bath and their last feed around 4 p.m.
In terms of training, the young pigeons flew twice a day in the run-up to the first national race, after which this is reduced to once a day.
In all previous years, Stephan paired a group of young hens with old cocks starting with the national race from Bourges in early August. This wasn't normally the plan this year, but because there were fewer cocks compared to hens, hens were paired with old partners anyway. The first pigeon from Argenton didn't want a partner and simply sits in the loft, while the second pigeon is one of those paired with an old cock. When they leave, they simply go together on Thursday morning, and when they return, they stay together until the next morning, just like his other young pigeons.
Some things he does every day are giving them a treat portion consisting of peanuts, candy, P40, grit, and Tovo, which they get after their daily feed. He also always uses products from Schroeder-Tollisan and Röhnfried. These are primarily Entrobac, Hexenbier, Moorgold, Atemfrei, Carni Speed from Röhnfried, and Immunol, Nano Tollyamin, and Conditioning Powder from Schroeder-Tollisan. This year, for the first time, he uses Belgasol from Belgica-De Weerd upon arrival, and upon departure, I combine BT-Amin Forte from Röhnfried with Nano Tollyamin from Schroeder-Tollisan.
