Racing hens

The racing team of the The hens were divided into 4 groups; only after the first race are the first racing pigeons paired with the cocks, and this lasts for 4 days. The other pigeons are partners only in the hallway and cannot join them. The following week, it is the next group's turn to spend 4 days together. Upon their return, the lofts are open, so the returning hens can go right into the hallway and see their cocks sitting there, but cannot reach them. Stephan keeps this up for 4 weeks, and only then do they truly see their cocks.

Daily training was increased earlier here to twice a day than usual; from the beginning of April, they had to go outside twice a day, and he maintains this now as well. They also train in the morning on the morning of basketing for middle-distance or national races. They come inside, are allowed to eat something, and go in groups with the cocks. Afterwards, they get a bath to relax, eat very well again, and can go straight into the basket. At the beginning of the week, the hens here receive Girl Power from Aidi and are fed with Vliegmix 2 and 3 from Aidi. Only the day after the race do they receive a detox mixture from Matador so that they can start the week clean again.

What now after the Argenton race? An extra night in the basket and one day less to work towards the basketing for La Chatre?

The pigeons came home on Sunday and were given Vliegmix 2 and 3. The morning after, I gave them detox, and on Monday evening I was already back to Girl Power because otherwise it would be far too short a time before basketing.

Regarding trichomoniasis, I use B.S. from Belgica – De Weerd for 3 out of 4 weeks, and in the 4th week I give them a pill for trichomoniasis. For coccidiosis, I normally do nothing, and they hadn't had anything this year yet; only now, on Monday morning after Argenton, did I do so and gave them all a pill.

Between the Bourges and Argenton races, the weather was very hot, and I simply gave the pigeons a week of rest here; I didn't drive the pigeons extra to keep them going.
