Surinx - Pletsers, an All Round colony from 100 till 700 km in the province of Limburg. They’re the publishers of the LCB Magazine – leading within the Belgian pigeon sport, with information from all over the country. They’re also specialised in “public pigeon-auctions” and in summer, every week at the top of the pigeon sport. In 2019, Hilaire & Nadia tried not to let them lead by the national programme, but they chose to take the weather conditions into account because, to this part of the country (at the front of the province of Limburg), it’s very difficult to score high on zonal and on national level. When you know you can’t win before the competition starts, it’s better to participate to another race, where the pigeons have the possibility to win. We all know, it’s not possible to win against the wind and the mass of the pigeons, although that’s what their “Miss Wonderful” did from Libourne (780 km), where she scored with an 19th place on national level. On the provincial result, she won the victory with an advance of 20 minutes in opposite of Jos Thoné…. Time to have a question-answer conversation with this colony.
Hilaire & Nadia, what are your feelings about the racing season 2019?
We’re more than satisfied. We won good results as well on the short-, middle- as long distances. We learned to be more patient with our feathered friends, not to take unnecessary risks, but to take notice of the weather conditions. Besides this, we try to keep the pigeons, which score well on the short distances at the beginning of the season (100-300 km), on this distance. Hereby, our “Rainbow” became 13° National Ace-pigeon SD KBDB. We handled the same system with our youngsters with the result of 3° Nat Ace-pigeon Little MD Youngsters with “Sunshine”.
In fact, we try to look at each bird individual, if they score well on a certain distance, we keep them there. Try not to look at the majority of the fanciers but at the pigeon itself. Of course, this is not always easy and it’s always possible to make a mistake like being impatient, and still wanted to participate to the national race from Argenton with the young birds and knowing that with the eastern wind, they completely entered in the western part of the country.
Which are at the moment your best pigeons and out of which family?
Our “Boonen BE06-8017514”, which we bought at a total auction of a Walloon fancier Roger Rase. This super cock won (without doubles) 11 x 1 , (100 - 400 km ) 19 x per 100 - 44 x per 10 among which 1 / 2181 p - 1 / 1452 p - 1/840 p - 1/786 p - 1/614 p - 1/516 p - 1/310 p - 1/299 p - 1/171 p - 1/121 p - 1/116 p - 2/1281 p - 2/910 p - 2 / 599 p - 2/203 p - 3/639 p ……… This cock became a super breeder and on our loft, he’s father of already 15 x 1 among which 1/3077 p - 1/1161 p - 1/739 p - 1/882 p - 1/389 p - 1/302 p - 1/475 p - 1/432 p - 1/264 p … 2/1482 p. and this on distances from 120 till 400 km). At this moment, his grandchildren are very successful: Sunshine - Rainbow and Bonk, 3 top pigeons in 2019 are grandchildren of this phenomenal breeder, which still fertilized in 2019. In the mean time, already 27 grandchildren won per 100; 2 provincial winners (1/2796 - 1/7329 …).
There’s also the strain of the Nationaal I, Herbots Brothers that forms, for several years now, a good base. You find here several children of the famous Yvan BE 07-2103401 (2 x among the National Ace-pigeons KBDB 1°+4° ), which do well.
In 2015, we bought a round of youngsters of the late Etienne DEVOS, which have been very strong selected and our friend Goossens Druart from Hyon won 1° National MONTELIMAR 4652 old birds – fastest against 6695 p in 2018 with a direct Devos-pigeon. This was a direct Surinx Pletsers cock (the “Golden Palace” BE16-2207367” strain Zidane 1 I.nat Carcasonne 10323 p - 2 Nat Albi 5064 p - Ronaldinho 1 Nat Limoges 9672 p…. Cavendish, the St.Vincent 1 Nat 10022 p and the Kleine Didi, it all can be found in this pedigree.
In spring 2018, we organised a public auction of Odilon Pardonce, where we bought “ODON BE17-1067362” and his father, both seem to be a very good reinforcement. They come out of the strain of the 1 Nat Limoges, Pardonce, - Carteus - Hausoul – the old base Grondelaers. The Odon won 1 Toury 1412 p - 1 Nanteuil 339 - 1 Argenton 181 p - (10/2022) - 1 Orléans 153 p (2/1001) - 4 Bourges 121 p - 5 Nanteuil 263 p - 2 Soissons 133 p - 6 Châteauroux 190 p ……As well from Odon as from his father, only two youngsters participated to the races and these 4 young birds won in 2018 a score of 28 from 40, of which 12 x per 10…..
Recently, they also bought the BE18-5001424, JACK, of a colony of the province of Limburg Daniels-Peeters. It’s a super cock on the short distance (100 - 200 km) with oin his prize list 11 x per 100 in only 2 years time: 1/2391 - 1/2000 - 1/734 - 2/1171 - 2/1445 - 1/133 - 8/1616 - 2/568 - 5/897 - 8/3254 - 34/3787 …. This cock still owns the blood of the famous Bourges Pair of Jan Grondelaers, or the old base of the Surinx Pletsers-colony. In 2019, he’s 1° Golden Ace LCB SD (it’s the pigeon with the most prizes per 100).
These last year, we try to find speedy pigeons that are intelligent and we prefer to be from less famous fanciers because these can be bought at a reasonable prize.
