Team Van de Pasch from Grubbenvorst (NL) shines with national ace pigeons

In the past season, the colony of Leanne and Ricardo was again at their best in their own loft as elsewhere in the Far East. It is not only in China that they play fantastic with their pigeons, also in Poland, Belgium, Taiwan they receive references of national ace pigeons or winners thanks to the input of Van de Pasch pigeons. The name Van de Pasch was held in great esteem by the late Jan, ace pigeons were his real hobbyhorse that they are still rightly proud of. In total, no less than 18 Olympiad pigeons were won here in their own loft, which is the most you can find in the Netherlands and Belgium. In 2024 they were again very present with 3 national ace pigeons in the top 15 and the descendants of "No Limit" and the grandchildren of "Murphy's Law" of Willem De Bruijn did more than excellent. This strain was straightened out by Jan from the beginning thanks to the input of the Willem De Bruijn pigeons that crossed fantastically with the pigeons of the founding father "Lowieke" who came from Janssens Gebroeders from Arendonk.

Of course you should not forget the references from the Far East, this has an important influence if you can use such performances as references.

The first top results come from Mr. Chen Yajun from Hua Feng Loft in China. He participated in the Kaier Charity One Loft Race and flew fantastic results with 2 pigeons. Both pigeons have the same father and this is an original pigeon from Team Van de Pasch from Grubbenvorst. The father of this pigeon is a son of “Big Ben” x “Nationale Ace Pigeon No Limit”. “No Limit” became 1st National Ace Pigeon speed NPO / WHZB in 2022 and in 2024 immediately became mother and grandmother of several top pigeons at their own. 

It is very special that 2 pigeons from the same family are doing super at the same time. We introduce both pigeons from Mr. Chen Yajun from Hua Feng Loft in China to you.

The 2nd reference comes from Mr. Wang Chengjian (Youxiang Loft), his pigeon won the 5th prize in the final flight of Great Wall OLR. Over a distance of 500 km. 3,652 pigeons took part. The mother of this top pigeon is NL 22-8594406 “Murphy’s Law 406”, she became 7th National Ace Pigeon Yearlings “De Allerbeste” in 2023 at Team Van de Pasch in Grubbenvorst. 

Both lofts were visited together by Ricardo Bolhoeve and Pieter Jan from our company Herbots in the autumn of 2024 together with of course a few other visits.

The first race of the season is over for the hens and this was already a great start. They flew Marche (147km) against 1,925 pigeons. They started with 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,12,13,15,16,17,18,21,24,27,28,39,45,47,49,67,68,69,70,72,75,76,79,83,85,87,… 44/46. That is almost a perfect score and 13 pigeons per 100 to start the season. 

They are already ready here in Grubbenvorst to make 2025 another cracking season.

The racing hens

The racing team of the hens flies on widowhood from April to July. Afterwards they are put on the nest and they are allowed to fly the late tour on the nest. This means that we play with our old pigeons from April to the beginning of September, with a short stopover between both series of flights. 

After the racing season the hens are allowed to moult and they do not go outside anymore. They are then paired again in mid-January and are allowed to raise a pair of youngsters. After the youngsters are weaned they are let out again for their daily training. It is ensured that the hens do not lay anymore when the youngsters are grown. So they go back into the aviary for a whole day around the beginning of March. In the evening they move to the resting loft for their night's rest.

The training sessions are being built up but our hens are soon flying for an hour. We don't have many problems with that now. Afterwards it is of course short notice for the training for the new season because in the Dutch system we have to be there from the start. This is because we are constantly having flights where the kilometres are increasing and there is no other option than this flight. You can sometimes train them yourself to 70 or 80 km but with this they do not have the same conditions as a real flight. 

The hens are not darkened and have been getting the Matador mixtures since this season. From the moment our pigeons can fly smoothly for an hour we give them 50% Start and 50% Turbo Extreme. During the season itself we use Start, Athletic and Turbo Extreme. On Sunday (the day after returning home) they get 100% Detox. At the moment we give the young pigeons 100% Young pigeons Matador Hot and they are doing excellently with this.

The ladies train once a day and on Wednesday they get an extra training of 35 km. Then they come home and are allowed to stay with their cocks for 1 to 1.5 hours. When they come from a flight they are allowed to recover a bit first and after 30 to 45 minutes they are only allowed to stay with their cocks until the evening or the next morning. On Tuesday it is usually time for a bath and then the week is well filled. 

On the day of basketing they usually do not train and they get their first feeding at 8 am. They are then fed several times during the day but this is usually a fatty mixture consisting of tovo, hemp seed, peeled sunflower seeds and peanuts. I prefer to basket them with a crop of 50 to 75% full if they have to be basketed for 2 nights. 

The old pigeons only get a paramyxo here and that is all. The young pigeons are of course different and we give them Rota Paramyxo and pox. When we get home we disinfect our racing pigeons with B.S. from Belgica – De Weerd and on the advice of Domien (Belgicica – De Weerd) we also intervene during the season if necessary for the respiratory tract.
