Theo Weytjens from Zutendaal scores with 1st Provincial Barcelona 958 old birds

In Zutendaal, Limburg, we find not only a specialist in the extreme middle distance, but also Theo Weytjens's love for Barcelona continues to live on. It's always special when you see a pigeon arrive home from over 1,000km, and especially now when you know you're in early.

Theo's first arrival was just before 9:00 a.m., a two-year-old hen that won 5th national prize against 5,819 old birds. Around 12:30 p.m., four pigeons were clocked, two of which still finished in the top 100 nationally. A fantastic achievement after he also won 2nd provincial Barcelona in 2022 and clocked a night flyer in 2014, "De Jan," who won 19th national against 8,764 pigeons and is doing very well in breeding.

A total of 21 pigeons were basketed, and 12 of them won a prize.

Four cocks and 17 hens were basketed. All these pigeons were basketed after 10 days of brooding, with partners staying at home. During the preparation, the pigeons flew every week and participated in the national race from Argenton. After that, they were paired and flew one more intermediate race of about 170km, after which they were basketed.
