Tournelle – Hua Feng (Rummen) celebrates at the last national race with 1st and 2nd Provincial Bourges 2,472 young pigeons

In the first national race for young birds, the Tournelle-Hua Feng colony from Rummen in Flemish Brabant had a winning streak, taking 1st National Bourges against 21,502 young birds and having the fastest pigeon of the entire release. Now, in the final race from Bourges, they settled for silver and 4th place nationally against 13,213 young birds. They also achieved an incredible series, winning 7 top 10 places provincially against a whopping 2,472 young birds.

In total, they won one 1st National and three 2nd National prizes this year. Another super season, after their impressive performance last year.

The young bird system revolves around the sliding door, as well as general condition, health, and fitness. The pigeons fly home for 40 to 50 minutes every day, and whenever possible, they are taken away on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Now, in the run-up to Bourges, no training was possible on Tuesday due to bad weather, so they flew Mettet on Wednesday. They would then be together for half an hour to an hour, and the next day they were allowed together for almost two hours. They were basketed like that until Tuesday morning. The week before Bourges, they flew a Melun, and now all the lights are off, allowing them to calmly enter the moult until next season.

The feed is familiar here, with Anthoons and Versele-Laga mixtures mainly on the menu. Davy always feeds generously, and his pigeons are never raced hungry. They always get more than enough, and because of the hard work of training at home and traveling, they certainly eat enough. So, I mainly use Super Recup Hi-Tech Anthoons in combination with Sport Select Anthoons. Starting Tuesday, I add 1/3 Energy Plus Versele-Laga, and on Wednesday and Thursday, this is 50%.

OLR Poland Reference

We just received another great reference thanks to the Tournelle pigeons. Grzegorz Szczoczarz won the OLR FCI Poland semi-final over a distance of 309km and a speed of 1121 m/min. The sire is an original Davy pigeon and a brother of "Miss Torres."
