Auction details
Wolfgang Roeper ... a world-renowned name in international pigeon racing ... without a doubt, this champion belongs to the select group of Germany's very best fanciers. Roeper pigeons guarantee top performances, so it is no surprise that they have won every prize there is to win. Olympic pigeons... national ace pigeons... Wolfgang has had the honour of achieving these many times!
In 2016, Wolfgang sold his 42 breeding pigeons via herbots.be. At the time, they were housed with the Torsten family, but due to Edgar Torsten's health issues, the breeders were sold very successfully thanks to the professional guidance of the Herbots team. It was an open secret that Wolfgang would only keep racing pigeons.
Even more spectacular are the numerous enthusiasts who owe so much to Roeper pigeons. Just think of Erik Limbourg. Erik himself says that his “Der 593” (purchased at the 2016 auction) is his best breeding cock ever. Or ask the Leideman brothers about the quality of the Wolfgang Roeper pigeons. Original Roeper pigeons ‘Magnus’ and “Torsten” are a common thread throughout the Leideman colony. The purchase of Olympiad pigeon and national ace pigeon ‘Big Boss’ was also a great success for the Herbots brothers. And recently, Jo & Florian Henriks also had to admit that the ‘Roeper pigeons’ are of a ‘next level’. It looks like hen ‘Roeper 642’ (DV04176-24-642) could well become the new stock hen.
Now... 10 years later... unfortunately, the Roeper colony is coming to a definitive end! When Jo Herbots visited Wolfgang a few weeks ago, all 13 remaining racing pigeons were given to Jo Herbots. As Wolfgang handed the pigeons over to Jo, he whispered: ‘Make it a successful sale, because I know that with the quality present, the buyers will be successful. I wish them all the best.’
