Huub Hermans (Born - NL) Topprestaties dankzij een ijzersterke basis

Huub Hermans is al bijna zijn hele leven woonachtig in Born. Getrouwd met zijn lieve vrouw Diana en samen hebben ze een dochter Saskia.  Diana is werkzaam als verpleegkundige in een aantal verzorgingstehuizen en verzorgt samen met Huub de hele kolonie duiven.

‘Via buurman Pierre de Bruijn ben ik reeds op zeer jonge leeftijd in aanraking gekomen met de duivensport.’, vertelt Huub, ‘Ikzelf had als jongetje van 5 of 6 jaar wat sierduiven, kippen en kanaries. Aangezien de sierduiven rondvlogen, hetgeen mijn buurman niet zo fijn vond, kreeg ik van hem mijn eerst echte postduiven. In 1977 overleed mijn buurman en kon ik wat duiven en duivenartikelen overnemen en toen was ik helemaal in de ban van de duivensport.’

Duivengeschiedenis

De eerste jeugdjaren behaalde ik niet echt geweldige prestaties met mijn duiven, maar dit veranderde in 1982/1983 toen ik contact kreeg met de grote kampioen Thei Bours uit Elsloo. Hiermee kreeg ik een ontzettende hechte band, wat resulteerde in een wekelijkse visite op zaterdagmorgen bij hem in Elsloo. Ook kwamen meerdere kwekers, jongen en eieren allemaal kosteloos naar Born toe van deze groot kampioen wijlen Thei Bours uit Elsloo. Thei Bours behaalde in zijn carrière 24 provinciale overwinningen en werd winnaar van meerdere autovluchten en ook nationale winnaar van de Olympiade vlucht vanuit Montargis in 1994.

Ook heb ik veel te danken gehad aan 2 duiven welke ik als jeugdlid geschonken kreeg van Lei Zinken uit Overhoven/Sittard. Beide duiven vlogen als jong een 1e prijs in het samenspel en ontpopten zich ook later tot geweldige kweekduiven en dat paste weer prima met de Van Loon duiven van Thei Bours uit Elsloo.

In de 90-er jaren kwamen er nog wat duiven bij van Jo van Deurzen uit Roermond uit zijn beroemde kweekkoppel. Uit dit kweekkoppel werden 2 kinderen 1e (genaamd Natascha) en 4e Nationale Asduif Midfond (genaamd Ricardo, deze duif is later verkocht geworden naar Mike Ganus uit Amerika en werd daar éen van zijn stamdoffers) in Nederland, gevlogen bij Jo van Deurzen. Later werden nog enkele duiven bijgehaald bij Dirk van Dyck in België en bij Pieter Veenstra. 

Momenteel bestaat mijn stam duiven voor 80 % uit de Van Loon duiven (via Thei Bours), aangevuld met bovengenoemde lijnen, Dirk van Dyck, Jo van Deurzen (Natascha-lijn), Pieter Veenstra en Hendriks Jo & Florian

Duivenbestand

In de winter zitten er een 28-tal kweekkoppels en een 32 vliegdoffers en een 40-tal vliegduivinnen. De vliegduiven worden op weduwschap gespeeld en de partner blijft altijd thuis, zodoende zitten er in de winter meer duiven op mijn hokken ( 230 duiven).

Voor eigen gebruik een 80-tal vroege jongen en een 40-tal late jongen voor de natour.

Verder worden er nog een aantal rondes gefokt voor een tweetal duivenbeurzen, één de duivenbeurs Kassel in Duitsland en de 2e duivenbeurs  in Polen. Op beide beurzen sta ik al meer dan 10 jaar. Het allermooiste is als mensen zeer goed slagen met mijn duiven en ik moet zeggen de referenties van mijn duiven de laatste 10 jaar echt geweldig zijn van Nationale asduiven, nationale en provinciale winnaars en Olympiade duiven en winnaars op de OLR’s overal ter wereld. 

De medische gezien wordt er zeer kort op de bal gespeeld. Daarom wordt elke drie tot vier weken dierenarts Peter Boskamp (http://www.pigeonvetcenter.com/) van Beek geraadpleegd. De mest wordt onderzocht en van een aantal duiven wordt een keeluitstrijkje afgenomen voor verder onderzoek. Afhankelijk van de resultaten wordt een behandeling ingezet. Tijdens het vliegseizoen krijgen de duiven elke twee weken een middel tegen trichominase (Metro) en een middel ter voorkoming van keel- en luchtwegaandoeningen en om ze schoon te houden (SA-mix). Daarnaast krijgen de duiven jaarlijks een verplichte paramixo/herpesvaccinatie en een paratyfuskuur en -injectie.
